Something's wrong at Get21

The $5000 Guaranteed Tournament was cancelled Thursday (June 21). The registered players expected it because Get21 had only 35 confirmed entries a few days before postime (they needed a minimum of 250 to go ahead).

I qualified for this tournament by winning a feeder and so did a few other members of this board. This feeder win was worth $12. Not much would you say, but as a matter of principle I would like the money to be credited to my account.

It has not yet been credited. Two e-mails to CS went unanwered and the phone line was busy the two times I tried.

Cheap customer base the problem, in my mind

Get 21 also has a $3000 Guaranteed on the works right now. Numerous feeders (cost $1+.10) have been running everyday for awhile and, as of today, there was 44 entries. This one should go ahead because the minimum is set at 50 players.

I won a feeder for that one (worth $6) and expect a credit if the tournament does not run.

It's a sad situation all around. Most of the people playing on that excellent BJT site, it seems, are only interested in freebies.

The owners must really feel the pinch. They deserve better after all the efforts, promos and good customer service offered up to now.

I hate to say this but part of their problem is "how" they've trained their customers. Give players a constant stream of freerolls and they (customers) come to expect it. Take that away and they bitch because now they feel like they've "lost" something.

UIGEA is the big problem here and we all know who to thank for that :flame:

Yes the player pool is just too small and it's a shame

    Another one bits the dust!

It looks like Get21/GoldenPalace is closing down all Canadian accounts for real money play. Their $3,000 promotion for July 01 was certain to make it over the 50 players hurdle, making it a strong player overlay. (cost to get in was $6.00 or $1.00 satellites). So, I guess one would have to be suspicious of the timing of the shut-down. So now we are out the $12 entry fee for the $5,000 tournament which was cancelled due to lack of players, the $6.00 for the $3,000 promotions and of course, any balances in our accounts.
    Oh well...

Doh! I got an email a couple of weeks back saying that Golden Palace was pulling out of the Canadian market, along with the supposedly unaffiliated Golden Casino. It didn't even occur to me that Get21 would likely follow suit. Bummer. To all our Canadian friends, welcome to the unpleasant reality faced by us neighbors to the south. I bet this isn't the last online outfit to make this decision.

    Clarification

Get21 continues to be available for play at this point, but Golden Palace is denying me access and has reduced my account balance to $0. They say that a cheque is being mailed out from Germany. Explaination from Golden Palace is that it has to do with their software supplier complying with "new Canadian regulation".:( :( :(

Not that I know of. I consider myself fairly on top of the news...read the paper daily, watch the news regularly..and I haven't heard anything.
