I'm new to the blackjack tourney scene and a poster on another site had recommended this site. I did a search of the forum, but didn't see anything on it. Also, what is a decent amount of take by the casino? Are there better online alternatives to US players? Thanks!

Sportbet is part of the 21gnet network. If you are searching the forum for discussions of the tournament format, etc., search for blackjack21, rather than sportbet, that's the name of the founder site in this network.

Regarding the Sportbet site itself, I don't have any information to offer about whether it is preferable to any other in the network. You can browse a long list of alternatives at 21gnet.com. (An issue to consider when comparing them is that most seem to charge you to withdraw your winnings! Some might offer better deals than others in this regard.)

Thanks, that should make finding info much easier. Had no idea it was part of 21gnet.com.

    No Problem.

Actually, although I did double-check the listing at 21gnet, I didn't check the Sportbet site itself, so I can't guarantee that my information is up-to-date.

My account is at blackjack21.com. Most players do seem to be from the U.S., but another issue to consider must be the UIGEA: I don't know if all the 21gnet sites are allowing U.S. players, and what funding methods they are able to use.

    Skill Development Question

Does anyone use this site or any other site to better their skills? I was thinking this could be used to better your skills. I know it's not the same as live turnament action in a casino, but I do think playing as much as you can will only better your skills. Is using software better than playing online? If so, what are some good software products?

Well I can't really view my online play as training for live play, since I hardly get any opportunities to play live.

But I would have thought all play, whether live or online, is an opportunity to improve. And you do get the chance to play a lot of tables online.

The main thing you miss out on is of course chip counting; a skill I have never mastered during my few forays into the live arena.

My main motivation for playing is to try and win a little money, but if practice is the main goal, then there are also play-money games available.

I haven't tried any software products with tournament-practice modes; I'm not sure what exists. I think it's been mentioned that Casino Verite has (or had) a tournament mode, but that the AI opponents aren't really up to much.
