First of all - roll call!!! Who's going?

Second, we're (again) having problems getting our spots reserved because nobody will call us back.
In the past, somebody here PM'ed me and offered helpful info. Help again, please?

I will be there with my fiancee. I called the first of February to reserve our spot. I got a call back and all they have left is smoking rooms. They have changed their policy, now your play is rated during your stay and that determines your room for future tournaments.

    I'll be there!

I think I kinda have a standing reservation. :D DeAnne has all my information on file and we usually play phone tag, and this time actually confirmed via phone tag. I called two weeks ago.

I got the last room with two beds (wife's staying home) at the main hotel. They ueually have plenty of rooms but you may have to stay at the other hotel.

Did anyone catch which format was being played this time? 2D or 4D?

    Thanks,
    Dan

    I'll be there

I entered about 2 weeks ago. Mid March road conditions can be a real adventure between here and there (430 miles) so, I'm hoping the never ending snow will end by then!
Looking forward to seeing old and new acquaintences again.
I don't know which of the two formats will be used this time. If they have the "power chip" again, somebody please remind me that I can use mine.

Someone finally called Deb back, so we're good to go.

I'm rather curious about the rated play for room assignment thing. We got stuck out at te offsite hotel again, and ran a lot - and I mean a LOT - of $$$ through their dollar 9/6 JoB video poker machines the last time we were there. Maybe they only count table play, at which we gave $0 action.

Don't know which format, either, but will be watching here to see if anyone else knows.

    Maybe.....

They had an issue with all the $$$ you took out of those machines. I saw those buckets full of coin! :celebrate :celebrate

    I will be there-at Ignacio

Having gotten a fine room at the new casino hotel.

It does appear they rate play for the better rooms, thus the request for the players card number.

They are looking for more action from those staying at the new hotel.

I go way back there, logging thousands of hours at the BJ tables, so I sorta get what I ask for in rooms.

This time I hope to play alotta DD and will also be doing a slot tourney this weekend with my lovely wife.

I will look forward to seeing all my old fiends again.

    Will probably fill

I played in a mini at the local casino last nite and there were 6 or 8 people from this area that said they're going to play this one (Kewadin).
I forget the max number of players they take but recent events have been filling up.

I just talked with Deanne and this tourney is going to be the 4-deck. The two-deck pitch tourney will be in June.

SWEET! If I'm not mistaken, this means face-up, which completely removes the "must reveal your blackjack"
waffling-on-the-rules crap that annoyed me so much at the last one we attended!

    Bridge

For those of you who must cross The Bridge to get there, remember to get a receipt for the toll.
Last time we were there, the caino slot booth was refunding bridge tolls, but only if you had a receipt.

    Same Day Play

FYI - you need to have a certain (not much) slot play the same day that the toll bridge receipt is dated to get your money back, and request it that day. $5 is what was refunded for a round trip in the past.

    Yes, face up.

That is correct, hands dealt face up in the 4D shoe. I do beleive though that the double down card, when dealt is still face down.

I will be there. I was sorry to see the first one changed from the end of April. There is great fishing in late April in the area. I saw some beautiful splake and a 44 inch northern caught at Hessell last spring. All I could get was an 18 inch northern. (Caught 3rd place in the tournament, though).

    One Exception

I believe Dan Mayo is correct except that double down card is dealt face up if it is a possible busting card, which often happens on last hands of play.

I thought in tournament play that the double-down card is FACE DOWN. I remember my girlfriend having to split her final hand and then double-off the split. She had $1200 on the table, the dealer busted and then they turned over the double down cards. One of the hands was a hard double and she ended up busting. The chip leader breathed a huge sigh of relief too!

    Might be the case.

This might be the case, I can't really remember for sure.

Just got off the John Deere. I was out clearing off the driveway, all 2000 feet of it! We got about 6-8 inches of snow so far today and it is just tapering off. They say the winds should start picking up now though.

I sure hope this is the last of it. The St. Ignace tourney is only 2 and 1/2 weeks away and this would be no fun to drive 6 hours in!

This, as with most rules, varies by casino. Sometimes the rule changes in the same casino depending on the type of game, pitch or shoe game. Always best to read the rules for the tournament you are playing.
