Slim and I will be in the St. Ignace Tourney this weekend, wish us luck!

(It was 32F degrees in southern Michigan this morning and I have to drive 300 miles due north to get to it. I packed my woolies :) )

    Beautiful Drive

The trip up was great. Just the wife and I in the car and athough the fall colors were not quite in full swing they were getting close.

The tourney was great and very well run as previously noted. The room we got as part of the package was super! A king suite with a second floor balcony that over looked the Straights or Mackinac.

Got to meet up with Slim20 and compare notes a little. He should be having a post sometime to evaluate a couple of the situations he came up against.

So, how did it go you ask? Well as a refresher it was a 42 hand tourney of elimination style. You started each round with $1000 and bets were 50 - 500. They offered a 1st round rebuy if needed.

First, first round I think I lost 25 of the first 30 hands. Ended up busting out trying to catch up after that.

Second, first round (rebuy) I got a little bit better cards but still think I lost 20 of the first 30 hands. Around hand 34 or so I started to play catch up and felt pretty good that I did catch a couple of hands and was actually in contention for BR2 on the last hand (2 advanced). But I lost an all in double down that would have made me BR2. It was actually a good DD too, 8-3 vs dealer 7. (I caught a 2)

My success though was that "my students" did well. My wife missed the final table by one hand in round three. And my other friend actually made it to the final table and took the $15K first place prize! This is the same prize I won 2 months ago.

I felt good about my play and how I played the betting situations that I came up against. Next time I hope to catch a few more good hands though and then make the best of them.

    Take Care All,

    Dan,

Good to meet you. Me and my wife had a good time as well. It was a fun relaxing weekend, until I lost the last five hands of my second round :). There's always February!

It worked out well however. After losing my round we decided to try CRAPS, which is normally how I feel about that game. When I got the dice I rolled for 35 minutes without a seven. Me and my wife walked away with $150.00 dollars in winnings (each). Which was awsome.

I don't remember your friends name, but I could tell he was on the top of the world. I congradulate him on his win, that is great!

    Talk to ya later eh!
    only in the U.P. :)
