The "Duy Tran" thread was so entertaining and generated so many posts that it made me think. Hard on my old brain to do that.

I believe I would rather have 100 non-backers from the board. I believe that if 100 people would give me $10 not to play in a tournament, that it would be more lucrative over time:)

Would you pay Ken $10 not to play? Or would you want to show how skillful you are and beat him anyway:)

Should I post tournament infomation about things in Oklahoma so you "skillful players" can descend on it? Or should I just keep it to myself?

Living in the DFW Metroplex, in the great gambling mecca of Texas (zero casinos), we have to travel to Oklahoma or Louisiana (the closest places) to gamble on table games.

Oklahoma has some tournaments, but they usually require hours of play in their casino or a hot seat drawing or the locals start with more chips than you to get to play in their tournaments. None of these conditions is conducive to travel, it is just too costly. Besides that they charge an "ante to play" table games. That is why they have the rules they have, because the locals pay the ante and fuel the player's pool which generates the money for tournaments and promos.

The Winstar a couple of years ago had the split that you could buy an entry to. Then last year it was 20 hours of play. This year it is hot seat drawings. So far I haven't found anyone locally that has tried it. The Riverwind's Saint Patty's day tournament this year was good because you could buy an entry. I hope they have more of them. But this is the exception.

In any event, I would appreciate that $10 for not playing in a tournament:)

Not to comment on Ken Smith's skills or talents, but generally speaking, there never should be any need to show how skillful one is by playing against whoever. Lots of self-proclaimed masters in the arena, or masters elevated and glorified to promote an enterprise (e.g. UBT). All one ever needs to do is to observe these masters and decide for oneself. More than often they bomb out after the first hand, a few hands later or after the first round by going kamikaze themselves.
