    Hey Barney and Rick

I think only the Saturday event counted for TBT points. The other days were sanctioned TBJPA events but did not count for points. I'm sure Rick can shed some light on this when he gets home after winning the Durant BJ tournament tonight. Congrats Rick.

    Am I missing something?

So if there are no points given for "sanctioned" events then what is the purpose of a "sanctioned" event?

    It's been said before ...

It's a seal of approval. You see the logo and you know what you will be getting if you participate in the tournament.

I would think this serves two purposes -
    1. It saves you the trouble of playing twenty questions with the tournament organisers, in an attempt to find out precisely what rules will be in force.
    2. The TPBJA rules being those which hopefully are the most attractive to players (insofar as it is possible to please most of the people most of the time) then, if things advance to the stage where it is beneficial to a casino to have its tournaments sanctioned, the casino is compelled to adopt these rules.
So the purpose is that you know what you are getting, and in the long term may be getting more of it.

    Correct London Colin

Now don't get me wrong, I am not knocking other formats, only that I believe that the majority of blackjack tournament players perfer the TBJPA format and rules over the other options.

As LC posted, whenever an event or events are sanctioned by the TBJPA, it only means that in the TBJPA opinion they offer the players the best possible rules and format for success.
