The local tournament I play in has a $12 entry fee. $10 goes to the prize pool (casino adds $200)....and $2 goes to the dealer(s).

Some players don't tip because they think it is already covered in the entry fee.

    What do you think?

    thanks!

I agree. The dealers are already getting 16.66% of the money invested. I wouldn't feel a need to tip beyond that in this event.

Tipping has been discussed here at some length in the past, seems to be a fairly polarizing issue. I agree with Ken, if the $$$ structure already takes care of the dealers then adding more from your winnings (if any) isn't necessary.

There was a huge stink at Meskwaki recently when they took a nice percentage off the prize fund for the dealers without telling the players they were doing it. This wasn't known until one of our own BJT-ers sat down and added all of the prize payouts together and discovered the shortage. To their credit, they now disclose this fact. The lesson there for all BJT promoters is that the players don't mind reasonable "skimming" of the prize fund for compensating the dealers but the players will be highly unhappy if this happens secretly.
