Alright, the counting thing is a little harder than I expected ive been counting for hours and I am giving up, its got me goin crazy! sure you have the advantage but I go to vegas with friends, family, etc like to drink you get my drift.. counting would ruin the good time, and hey I still win money just on luck sometimes to! But my real question is I was in Vegas back in Dec. for my 21st b-day and were playin at the Hilton... got a suited blackjack and got into a tournament may 26-29th and a free room, me and my dad are both in the tournament and have never been in one before, how is it different etc.. Ive played texas hold em tournament and understand how they work with blinds etc.. but how do you get knocked out etc? Any tips or any advice?
counting/tournaments as far as counting goes - keep practicing it until it becomes automatic - the more you do - the easier it becomes - and the faster you can do it - takes moore than a few hours to become proficient - try doing it for a couple of hours each day for a few weeks - then try it out in a real casino for a few days - and you will get it down most tournaments are elimination format - meaning everyone starts with the same bankroll - you play a set number of hands - then you count chips and the player (or players) with the most chips advance to the next round - where you do it all over again - depending on format - you could have 6 or 7 players at a table - and one, two, or three could advance - different rounds may have different numbers of players at each tabvle - and different numbers advancing - for tips on how to play tournaments - get Wong's book Casino Tournament Strategy - and Ken Smith's e-book on how to win bj tournaments - both are available through Ken's other site -

The dealer is your best friend Tournament Blackjack is NOT A COUNTING GAME, but a BETTING game between you and the other players at the table. Your best friend is the dealer At the table, RESULTS are similar most of the time (everybody wins or everybody loses) When playing conservative (minimum bets) you want the dealer to cleanup. You only really want to beat him when you need to make a major move to catch up or keep a lead. For your first tournament, focus on strategy and basic tournament play. Ken Smith's e-book is a collection of short, easy to read and easy to understand articles on different topics of tournament play, from basic to intermediate and advanced play. Have fun, good luck and enjoy the experience.
