I am new to the site and am an experienced well rounded poker ring and tournament player.
However my blackjack skills are absolutely nil other then reading Renzys book many many times and ordering the two tourney books available on the market.
These books should arrive sometime this month.
    My questions are
1..... how deep do they go into the deck on average in tournies
2..... are you allowed to take a basic strategy card to the table in tournies
3..... what tournies are not good values. In poker there are structures that are purely crap.
4..... With the state of blackjack these days would it be more profitable to specialize in tournies rather then the blackjack ring game.
I have discovered in my quest with others that there truly is an enormous amount of ignorance among so called skilled players. This fact is stated many times in Renzies book and I found this to be fact.
Look forward to a great education in the forum.:)

    tournament question

I am a bit surprised that the better players here dont find time for us ignorant newbies.
I am sure I will find my answers with a bit of persistence.
Wishing the forum all the best. goodbye

    Sorry I missed your post

#1 The cut varies from tournament to tournament. The IP in Vegas deals a single deck tournament down to the last card.

#2 I have seen strategy cards used in some smaller mini tournaments, but never allowed in a bigger event.

#3 The ones with poor EV, and bad rules. What I look at is entry vs prize money, location, rules, if any other events are going on around the same time (if you can play multiple tournaments during one trip the value goes up).

#4 Personal choice, I like tournament play, but I will play regular tables while I am at the casinos. However I only go to the casinos when they are hosting a tournament.

    Hope this helps.

Your questions have been answered as well as possible. The quantity of answers wil make no difference.

    Mr. Grass:

Your dismay at not receiving immediate answers to your questions should not sway you to chagrin of the "more experienced" players.

This is the most helpful site and source for tournament blackjack. ANYWHERE!

The more thoughtful, want to take their time to reply concisely to your questions, to reduce the number of needed posts.

Aside from that, stick around long enough, listen intently and you'll pick up tips you didn't even know you were looking for.
