Hi All I'm sure there must be a thread on this topic somewhere already but I can't find it! What software would be best suited to simulate different playing strategies in tournaments? For example I'd like to look at different ways of playing hand totals less than 7 and different strategies for DD. Most of the simulators I've looked at (and it has only been a scan of the features) seem to focus on card counting, etc. I've downloaded a few inc. Casino Verite and they don't seem to fit my needs, unless of course I'm missing something which is not unlikely. Cheers Reachy
CVBJ is the best I've found so far The full version has tournament play in it and the AI is fairly good, however I've had problems with it bugging out on me in that mode, maybe it's because I have 6 people at the table, but I haven't found anything better myself.
Thanks Scorcho I think you are talking about using CV as tourney practice software. I'm more interested in testing different hit/fold/stand/etc strategies (e.g. Surrendering 5's and 6's in the later hands of a tourney vs dealer 10, A) over millions of hands. Can you do that with CV? Am I barking up the wrong tree? Cheers Reachy
Wong's tournament software has some limited ability to do simulations, but its results can't really be trusted more than one hand from the end. Casino Verite doesn't do tournament simulation, but instead has a feature where you can practice tournament play. And, the latest version actually has removed that functionality while Norm develops a new Tournament-specific version of CV. In the meantime, purchasers of CV4 can install CV3 to get the older tournament ability. Short answer for Reachy... What you are looking for does not exist as a commercial product.
Thanks Ken. Shame about the software though. I've been contemplating the free open-source simulator on Arnold Snyders site. Have you tried it? If so what do you think? Cheers Reachy
