Tunica 2007 BJT?

    Hello, All,

Has anyone heard whether any of the Tunica, MS casinos are hosting any major (open) BJ tourneys in early 2007? Judging by the schedule of events in 2006 (some were held in January 2006, for example), it seems there should have been announcements already made for 2007. I've checked the schedule thread, but see no major open events listed for Tunica (or anywhere else in MS), unless I've missed something.

    Thanks for your help.

Tunica and MS tourneys -- Addendum

Well, lo and behold a tourney showed up for MS on the 2007 schedule. Perhaps Ken or someone else just posted it today (12/15), or else I just missed it when I looked yesterday.

It's the Holiday Hangover Tournament at the Beau Rivage in Biloxi on Jan. 7 and 8, 2007 (Sunday and Monday).

I just registered. As info on schedule thread indicates, it's a $50 entry fee. Must have a Beau/MGM player's card to register, according to casino marketing person with whom I spoke. Rebuy rounds are on Monday, according to my info. Info on schedule thread indicates the format is elimination style. By the way, I've played the tables at the Beau previously, but I'm not exactly in the high roller category, so this appears to be a genuinely open tourney.

That's all the info I can add.

If anyone encounters any info for Tunica or any other MS tourneys, your post would certainly be appreciated.

  3. I am going to Tunica for a couple of days next week. I'll nose around and see what I can find out.

Thanks, Blackjack Reb. I'll keep my eyes and ears open, too. Do you have a favorite place for non-tourney BJ in Tunica?

    Tunica BJT

    DynoM:

I simply looked at the BJT schedule for 2006 in Tunica to speculate on which casinos may have BJT in 2007. I have no other info than that.

I registered last night - the lad e told me that the 1st starts at 3 pm
which is sold out . All others aren't which are at 4 ,5, 6, and 7pm. I beleive.
$25000.00 for 1st place. $50.00 buy in & $50.00 buy back. The is about all I've got at this time. the farmer:)

As usual, my efforts to get into any event at Beau Rivage are an exercise in frustration. Apparently, this event is open for most everyone at $50, but I'm not most everyone. I get the "your action doesn't warrant an entry, even at $50". Hogwash, but, Oh well.

Good luck to all who are allowed to participate.

  9. No one I talked to in Tunica this week had any sort of concrete information or had heard of anyting coming up in the near future. I only asked floor people so there might be something they were unaware of. Gold Strike and Grand are both hosting major poker events in January so it seems unlikely that they would schedule anything else during that month.

I already had plans to be in Biloxi the Friday & Saturday before the BR tournament. Of all things, I am playing in the Grand Biloxi Harrah's Millionaire Maker SLOT tournament. It is an invitational and I had a blast at their blackjack event so I figured I would give it a try. I had been planning on playing some at Beau Rivage while I was down there anyway. Maybe something will open up in their tournament if I am physically there and they have some spots.

    Horseshoe Tunica 250,000 tournament

The Horseshoe in Tunica is planning an open $250,000 tournament, $1000 buy-in sometime in April. The exact date is not set, but the tournament planning is far enough along that it is probably going to happen. This will be a first for the Horseshoe as all their previous tournaments were invite only. I was told this tournament will be open and they expect a large turn out. I will post to the calander when I get more details.

    Fitz at end of January

I saw a mention on Rudi's newsletter about a tournament at Fritz at the end of this month and found a listing here. Sure enough, it is an open for only a $99 buy-in with first prize of $10,000. Limited to 108 players, so better register quick.

Rooms are $109 per night, but those can be comped with play, so check with the host when you register to see if they will add a room.

    Fitz tourney

Just registered, was told I was 70-something on the way to 108 limit. Very friendly, helped me establish player's card to enter even though I have never been there before.
