    Hi All,

Is there any tournament players in the Twin Cities area that would be interested in putting together a local friendly game or is there and games going on that I could join in on?

    Morton

    Craig,

There is a casino in Morton that holds weekly blackjack tournaments. I believe they are on Tuesday nights and Wednesday mornings. Morton is a drive from MSP, but if you live close by it might be worth the drive.

They also have a $25K tournament about once a quarter on a weekend. There should be one due in a month or so.

    Their website is www.jackpotjunction.com

    Good info but ...

I thank you for the info on the Hinckley and Jackpot Junction tournaments but why didn't you post it on the CALENDAR instead of the discussion FORUM?

I, like many members check the latest updates to the CALENDAR on an almost a daily basis. This usually gives plenty of time to plan a trip.

Tournaments posted in the FORUM tend to get lost. The CALENDAR provides a quick and efficient way of checking on tournaments. Ken Smith did us all a big favor when he introduced the CALENDAR.:D Use it, it benefits all (players and casinos), and provides more detailed information (and saves a lot of typing:p ).

    Tournament Director Checking This Site

I think it's great that a tournament director is checking this site out. If more of them would do that, and take heed of what we players want, there'd be more well run tournaments.

By the way Hinckley Mgr, you guys run a good tournament up there. I played in the $30 event with seafood buffet last March. If you were to change anything it would be to go to two-winner tables instead of just one-winner.

    To post to the calendar

Posting to the CALENDAR is really easy:
    1) In the FORUM heading, left click either "Event Calendar" or "Member Area"
    2) The next screen will have a blue selection box. Left click "Add an event"
    3) Starting with the next screen, you will be guided to enter the event information. It's basically intuitive but if you have any questions, post them on this FORUM. Someone will help you.

Thanks for your interest in keeping us players informed.;)

I have just added the weekly tournament for March at Mystic Lake to the events calendar. No entry fee, but you must be a member. Top prize is $5000.

Thanks for your support. I have just recently taken over the tournament director position in the last week and am looking at putting together some different formats and gaining input from all of you as to what exactly the tournament player sees as a good tournament and hopefully be able to put together tournaments that you all like and would like to play.

I have set up a PM and looking forward to hearing all of your ideas and suggestions. The April tournament that I put in the calendar has been our basic big tournament for a few years and I think that we can put together a bigger and better one that all tournament players would like.

Again, any thoughts, ideas, suggestions, or questions are welcome.

Glad to hear you will be up. Unfortunately I have prior commitments that day and will not be there. If you make it up for any of the Monday tournaments I would like to meet you. My name is Dave and you can just ask the tournament staff to contact me.

    Great news in MN

This is great news for tournament players up in MN. I wish I could make both myself, but it looks like my flying days are numbered. My daughter is talking about leaving Delta, and if she does, that clips my wings. No more weekends in Vegas or at some tournament and catching the red eye home.

Maybe I just need to move up north to be with Toolman and Monkeysystem. Of course I would miss the high 70's we had here today!

    Guilt works

Make her feel guilty. Make her fell like she is removing the old man's only recreation. If that doesn't work, pay her to stay put.

NO, NO, NO. The tournaments up here are generally on the lower end of the prize scale. You're much better off going to the Mississippi tournaments. Unless of course you like punishment. Snow, freezing rain, and occasional sub zero temperatures. Damn, why do I stay here? I know, it's the monkeys!

    Not being posted!!!

For some reason, MN tournaments aren't being posted to event calendar. We must have some members here from MN that could help with that.
I know there is a tourn. Sat. Nov. 3rd at Jackpot Junction casino (Morton MN) because I'm playing in it. I also know that Grand Casino at Hinckley, MN has tournaments regularly.
I will try to put the Jackpot tourn. on the calendar tomorrow if I can find the info about it. Would also post Grand's if I had the info, but haven't been there for some time and must have been dropped from their mailing list. There's also another place way up in MN (Mahnomen) that hosts some events
Any of above that are a reasonable drive would be attractive. The one's I've played have been well ran by nice people. My belief is that they're all "funny money" tournaments.

So, let me see if I got this right:
You complain because MN tournaments are not being posted on the CALENDER.
    BUT

You don't bother to post, on the CALENDER, the tournaments you know about and/or participate.

    AND THEN YOU COMPLAIN

I think you can answer your own dilemma.

I'll be out of town for the weekend starting 3am tomorrow. Maybe some CALENDER posts will pop up by the time I return.
