I just called Barona Casino to sign up for the upcoming UBT "Last Chance Qualifier" tournament and was told "UBT has cancelled the events", which includes both the qualifier tournament and the "Tournament of Champions."

    Is this information correct?

No, that's not correct. I just called and registered for the circuit event. Entry fee $175. Registration 10am to 10pm on Tuesday Nov 27th.

    Thanks KEN !

I called Barona again after seeing your post and this time I was able to register for the tournament. I don't know why the first rep I talked to said that UBT had cancelled both tournaments, but she was obviously jerking me around for no reason.

    UBT out

Just got off the phone with Dana from Barona. She said and I quote Ubt has backed out as of 2 days ago and Barona is going on with the tournaments, money is not an issue and everything will go on as planned. This is concerning, with regards to the fact im entered in the toc. Dana had no idea if the prize pool in the toc will excede 1 million, but there will be a last chance tournament and a TOC.

    Barona

Ok i just called Barona again because Ken was charged 175 and Dana charged me 275, so i called to check on that... This is the responce i recieved. " We just shredded all your info Sonny because we have changed this tournament to an invitation only and you have not been invited and Dana should have never allowed you to register".:flame:
So i asked what would have happened if I drove all the way down there to play, And she said " Its a good thing you called back" OMG I said are you kidding me. I asked you werent going to call me back she said "Not that im aware".This was a different person I talked to and she said unless I have recieved an invitation i cannot play. So i explained to this dunce that they just changed their entry guidelines and how could i have recieved an invitation( I am a card member ive played in 2 of their prior UBT tournaments and also recieved free rooms based on my play). She said well if you have the one from Ubt we will honor that...LMAO.... We all know it was never an invite tourney, and so should they. Then I was hung up on.

Ken you might wanna give them a call. Could you please post after you do.

Very interesting developments, and I hope someone will clarify the situation soon. It unfortunately won't be me as I'm pressed for time headed to Mexico for the holiday.

    Cancel Your Reservations

Just spoke to someone NICE at Barona.... It is all cancelled unless you are invited. Even the TOC is an invite only with no entry fee. They are having the 2 tournaments but only for their local play, so cancel your reservations everyone, I gotta try to get my 10 grand back.

    UBT is cancelled at Barona

My Host at Barona emailed me to tell me UBT cancelled both its tournaments.
Barona is holding its own Tournament in which the top prize is only 20,000.
Make sure you know what you're signing up for before you send money in and travel.

I dont know Maxwell but your right this looks really bad upon UBT. How about the poor guy that won a seat at the final table of the TOC. That seat was roughly worth $147,000 dollars with a split. What are they going to do for him?Actually theres nothing the can do to make that up. I fell sorry for him.

Looks like UBT and Barona are going the way the LV Hilton did with its $1M tournament!!!!! The Hilton resolved the way it did, while Barona and UBT chose to cancel theirs altogether?

If UBT has bailed out of the TOC, they're all done. Put 'em on a spit and bring on the sauce.

Had I been the guy who won that online free-for-all for the final table seat, I'd be lookin' for somebody's head on a platter pretty damn quick.

Hold onto your cruise tickets, folks. They might make good souvenirs. :(

What cancellation are you referring to, Barney?

I am pretty damn upset right now. I've had reservations to fly to San Diego and stay at Barona for months now, taking a week off of work. My wife has to travel to San Francisco for work during that week, and now she can't buy the ticket because we don't know whether we will be in San Diego or at home.

As for ClubUBT, I think it is still a viable business model. Other sites follow the "sweepstakes" model, for example: http://www.pureplay.com. I think that unless the backers back out of ClubUBT, it can probably exist without the TV show. At least I hope so, since I did buy a year-long membership.

just talked to barona. i would suggest calling them before making any moves. talked to a host, and was told that cbs cancelled ubt (not surprising). barona will at least hold a tourney. kudos to them. myself and my partner are registered and confirmed. so, maybe others are also still eligible for the restructered tourney.

kind of a black day for bjt.
