    6 go

If I'm not mistaken, the final 6 of the Nov. 28 rounds go to LA, not just 1.

    In limbo

I have to make a correction. The final 6 on the NOV. 9 (not Nov. 28 as I previously posted) freeroll go to LA.

    maxwell:
I haven't played yet. Still in limbo. With all the problems everyone is reporting and the near microscopic chance of making money, I just don't know. Ya, I know it's free but still thinking. I'll probably think too long and miss the whole damn thing. Ya I know, "he who hesitates is lost" and in this case it may just be me.

    Congrats Max....

Yep it sure is some work to get thru this...

I have gotten to round 3 but that's it...

Its a challenge to stay in the game when the guy beside you is quite likely to split his max bet dueces against a dealer ten ...and then make 21 out of both...lol

Also there are many very good players too..

Even the Tec point game is going longer although it usually has huge scores as the all in mentality prevails...lol

I played a tec point game yesterday that I think I won with 365,000....what's up with that???

It would be quite an accomplishment to go all the way...plus a nice paycheck.

Anyway congrats on your win....it certainly keeps you on your toes for a few hours...lol

    bloody bubble

The only LA Qualifier I can see is for the 28th October. Where can I find details on the 9th November tourney? (The one on the 28th is 1st place only)

My recent form at UBT has been frustrating; in the past 2 freerolls I have gone out on the bubble which after 2 hours of play and with my wife giving me grief for "playing poker and not putting the blinds up in the kitchen" is bloody hard work!

On another note I am disappointed that the observer chat has been removed completely at playubt. There is an option for individuals to turn it off if they wish so why they needed to remove it for everybody seems a little over the top. Bet21 still have observer chat.

Toolman - Don't procrastinate any longer! I can't think of any good reason not to sign up to any of the sites offering free TBJ. Nothing to lose, everything to gain. Firstly, you can win cash money over at Golden Palace/Get21. I've deposited NO MONEY at GoldPal and played 4 or 5 tourneys and now I have a good amount of money. The level of play over there for the most part is appalling. Apart from the odd bjt.com player and some others most of your opponents don't appear to have a clue. I am beginning to suspect that they have a load of badly programmed bots playing. Get over there before they start to learn how to play better.

Secondly, you get to play TBJ whenever you want. You can practice some moves you've been thinking about pulling in the B&M casinos, or do what I do, practice playing when behind. Let the all-in brigade bust out or get big leads over you then play catch up. It's great for practicing discipline as well; avoiding the urge to chase the big bettors with big bets of your own and watching their BRs drift desperately back to yours (I saw a guy blow a $250K BR a few weeks back!).

Thirdly you can experience elimination TBJ over at playubt or bet21. You can't do that anywhere else even in B&M casinos unless you're going to St Kitts, LA or whereever. How you going to get to those? You could try winning a freeroll, you never know you might just do it!

Finally, you get to test your mettle against many of the bjt.com members and leading lights of the TBJ world and even for ZERO dollars they aint going to let you beat them without you pulling your A game!

Come on toolman, get bloody registered, don't hesitate, do it today and I'll see you at the tables!!!!

    Cheers

    Still on the fence

    Reachy,

About the Nov. 9 tournament, you must qualify by winning a daily beforehand. Here is a direct quote from Anthony Curtis' direct e-mail:
The qualifiers are running every three hours, beginning daily at 1:30 am EST. Right now they're under-filled, because few people know about them. So now's your best chance to get past step one. Make to a final table in one of these dailies and you qualify for the Nov. 9 freeroll, where the final 6 go to LA and compete for $100K. It's free and fun, and there's a giant upside. This is a good one. Good luck!
I don't know if expenses in LA are part of the prize (airfare, hotel, food, etc.).

I'm still on the fence as far as playing. What I find "interesting" is that many players don't know what they are playing for or the steps need to reach their ultimate goal. Couple that with the fact that these same players really get upset if a B&M Casino doesn't provide all the rules and how the progression up the ladder is accomplished, and I just find the whole thing amazing. I guess being free makes the difference. Since it's free everybody says "what the hell, what do I have to lose (swog: got it this time :D ) . Well what you have to lose is large blocks of time and the frustration may kill off a person with a week heart.

I woke up at 4:00am somehow knowing you were trying to contact me. :D Now I'm going back to sleep.

But who knows Reachy, maybe I'll change my mind about playing. Until then, GOOD LUCK to you. :D

    Addiction

    C'mon in toolman1, the water's fine.

I must warn you though, deciding whether to play elimination blackjack is like the decision to take your first hit of crack cocaine - you'll be addicted after the first try. :celebrate

    Forget ubt!

    Toolman

Try golden palance or get21 instead. Traditional TBJ, you know exactly what you're playing for (cashmoney or feeders to bigger tourneys), the structure is easy to understand once you figure out what it is (1 advance then wildcards from the losers with the biggest BRs) and they are fairly quick. They have 30, 15, 10 and 5 round games so plenty of choice.

Sign up now. Play just one game. If you don't like it uninstall it but give it a shot. As my old crack dealer :)joker: ) used to say to all newbies "the first one's free..."

Plus if you don't sign up I'll unleash The Bear and you wouldn't like that :yikes:

    Cheers

So far Reachy, Monkeysystem, and noman (at this time he is "replying" so that will take another hour  ) are trying to keep me awake. I sense a conspiracy but it won't work. 'nite all.

    LA Qualifiers: and toolman, too.

Play UBT qualifiers are for Saturday Octobrer 28> 5;30pm?

    Bet21.NET qualifiers are for Nov. 9th (9pm?)

Bet21.com qualifiers are for Nov. 9th.

I believe, PlayUBT, only the winner goes to the final table in LA

Bet21's say the final 6 go to LA.

All three of these sights have continuous qualifiers about three hours apart. PlayUBT starts on the hour, bet21 on the half hour. PlayUBT requires a TEC point. Tournament entry point, earned by playing in a seven seat sit n go, which are continuous as soon as 7 are signed up. Be ready for three to four all-ins off the bat and some lucky hits, but its a perfect example of what advantage tournament bj play can be. At least to get the tec.

SO...Tool. Nothing risked, excempt time at home in front of the screen. And a chance to travel, enjoy top notch hotel accomodations and cuisine for no investment, but your time. Check your frustration meter though.

    toolman p.s.

I set a land speed record in the last post. It only took me a half hour.

And if I didn't get the facts 100% it's because, the explanation boxes in the tourney listings seem to change every so often.

If it ain't one frustration it's another:

So I'm playin in the bet21.com LA freeroll at 7:30am eastern tuesday.

Last hand basically, of the first round. three remain at 25th hand. I bet. Leading by 2K. I secret 10K. power goes out.

15 minutes later power comes back up. I check the site to see if I advanced.

Yep. I don't know the particulars. But usually it's a half hour or so, before the start of the next round. except today. By the time I get rebooted and up and running I get to see myself timed out on the 5th hand of the second round. It's always somethin. Glad it was free roll. I think for the next however many I can play before they cut it off, I'm just goin max on every bet.

    where do you live?

It's not Frankenstein's mountain is it? First your internet connection goes down (but then again I'm not sure that convict brain matter makes for a good modem) then you have a power-out. Were there no electrical storms last night? Villagers getting restless and decided to over-run your castle and set fire to it? What next, time machine took you back 300,000 years by accident so you got timed-out? Broke down on your way to the centre of the earth? Got stuck 20,000 leagues under the sea? Get with the millennium man!

    Cheers

Boy, what imaginations these English folks have. It’s nothing more than a case of Sod’s law. (unlucky sod).
You know reachy, if you drop your crumpet it will land honey side down or the American version, Murphy’s law. If you drop your toast it will land butter side down.

Agreed Maxwell. I won the 7pm qualifier this evening - and played in many others routinely reaching the 2nd and 3rd rounds. It seems brutally tough to win one and then only to have to play another for a chance to LA. Congrats on your win. Good luck on Saturday.
