Upcoming Harrah's New Orleans BJ Tourney?

Discussion in 'Blackjack Events (USA)' started by kelly_c_ritter, Jan 14, 2009.

  1. I saw a casino events listing online that had the following information:

Feb 6 and 7 $250,000 Buy in Blackjack Tournament Harrahs New Orleans

This could be old tentative information. I just don't know. I wasn't personally interested in attending, so I didn't follow up on it. My presumption was that it was probably like the semi-invitational tournaments that they have run in the past with an entry fee that is nominally $500, but reducible based on one's ADT.

  2. I am going down there this weekend to play in a Video Poker Millionaire Maker qualifier. I'll sniff around and see what I can find out.

    Metrics

I will be in LAS this weekend, but once you get the metrics on your MMVP qualifier, email, PM or call my cell and I will give you my specific recommendations

    Good "spins" to you!

The Harrahs New Orleans $250,000 Blackjack Tournament on Feb 6 and 7 is a go. I got a call from my host about it tonight.
I believe this event is open for a $500 buy-in though many of the participants will be comped.
If you need a host contact, feel free to PM me.

Thanks, Ken! Any word on the format or the prize payout structure?

    Figures.

Thanks for the head's up, TLR.

  8. I was down there all weekend. They have put a good bit of signage up for their previous 250K blackjack tournaments. I didn't see any at all this trip.

I was just told that the tournament has a $1000 entery and a $500 rebuy. Sounds like you get hotel and gift. But still can not get the details out of any one, like prize structure, rules...

With that entry fee, it might as well be a invite only, LOL :D

I'm gonna pass on this and head west in March, young man!

Not sure if the Calendar post means one must have an invitation and pay $1,000 entry fee or is the $1,000 entry fee for those without an invitation. Please clarify.

    FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND TOOLMAN
THIS IS A INVITATIONAL TOURNY EVEN WITH INVITE THE ENTRY IS 1K FOR SOME DEPENDING ON YOUR PLAY AND FOR SOME IS 500 AND THEN FOR SOME IT IS COMPED MY INVITE IS FOR 1K AND 500 REBUY

I WOULD SUGGEST TO PRIVATE MESSAGE KEN SMITH FOR HIS HOST NUMBER AND CALL HER AND POSSIBLY BE ABLE TO BUY IN WITHOUT INVITE I DO NOT KNOW
I HOPE I AM BEING CLEAR ABOUT THIS TOURNY :eek:
A 1K ENTRY IS A LOT I KNOW NOT TO MENTION THE 500 REBUY ALL I CAN SAY IS NO RISK NO GAIN:eek::eek:

after looking on the back of the invitation this is by invitation only with buy in

Thanks for the clarification, maxwell. You confirmed what I though was the situation. I just find it amazing that its an invite only since the entry fee will be $1,000 to most. I can only hope this does not become a trend.

    Orpheus Parade?

That little ditty about 1st place receiving two spots to ride in the Orpheus Parade changed my mind! Oh, cost may be a factor, also.
What the hell is an Orpheus Parade???

Thanks for providing the link, maxwell. I checked it out and the part about women and beads intrigued me. The part about lesbians didn't!
Out of towners certainly couldn't justify making a return trip for parade only.

    Mardi Gras

We were in New Orleans for Mardi Gras kick off weekend last year on our way to a TBJPA (blackjack) cruise...even though it was cold and rainy...the thing about women and beads is ALL TRUE! My husband was very intrigued by this activity! :p

So how did it go? Did anyone from here do well? And just exactly what were the final entry requirements?
