just got back from a very well run blackjack tournament at the Golden Nugget, Laughlin NV. $50 entry, $50 reentry. 158 original entries and 71 rebuys. 71 rebuys only eligible for 11 entries into round 2. 5 wild cards round 3 (rebuys and 2nd round particapants only. 1 wild into final. Round 1 and reReport this buy 1 advance of 6 per table. Round 2: 2 advance of 5 per table. Semis: 1 advance. Final started at 11:15 AM Sunday. Rounds were 20 hands and 45 minutes between rounds. Dealers were very competent. Some of the Golden Nugget Las Vegas tournament personnel assisted in assuring this tournament ran smoothly. $20,000 purse was based on 120 entries. I did not stay for the final but I presume they at least paid the $20K, it may have been increased. open event per KS web site. Mostly Laughlin regulars. About 10 from Vegas. Had to belong to Player's Club, but at least 2 people without cards were allowed to sign up on the spot with no history and got in. BTW: If you did not register in advance and pay $50 with credit card, you were put on waiting list. You still got in but had to sweat the calling of the waiting list names. They also had a drawing for 5*$50 in free play. Cocktail service during the rounds for those interested.
Feedback Thanks for posting some feedback for this event. It looks like GN-L is going in a different direction. They used to do $25k $250 buy-in events with rooms and food. There are some dealers who like to do these events, so they have some experience. GN-L does a fine job in running promos for the most part.
