Well the cruise tournaments were a blast but, the cruise itself was horrible!

If you haven't heard about it by now we never made it onto the island of the Bahamas! Our ship hit the pier and then ran a ground. Yes, this is all true.

The captain came over the loud speaker and informed us that because of high winds, we couldn't dock (of course this was after we hit the pier). Funny how there were about 4 other ships that all made it in with no problems. When the passengers went up to see what happened, the water was calm and no winds. Isn't that funny?

After being told we had to go straight back to Jaxsonville due to damage to one of the propellers, we could only use one of the engines.

As compensation, Carnival has offered us $100 credit per person, plus 25% off a future cruise per guest for the problem (yea right!). Funny that we came back in to Jaxsonville last night and they were loading up for the next cruise at 4:00 to today. The prop problem with the ship was not fixed completely, but they were still going back out today since they stopped the fluid leak. Great! Ruin our trip, but make sure they take care of the next group.

We contacted CNN and CBS about the problem and they met us at the dock with camera crews. If Carnival dosen't take care of us in a fair way, most of the passengers are talking about filing a lawsuit against the cruiseline.

Note: For the 2nd time in a month, the pilot caused this exact accident (from what were were told, it was not confirmed yet).

    Cruise Dealers

I had a couple of casino dealers on this years cruise, along with Swog and Joep.

As the casino dealers (Montie & Jose) were finishing the 24 hand tournaments Swog and Joep were just turning the final corner (around hand 16)...LOL

Both of them did a great job, they may just need to work on their speed a little.

Montie's husband is also a pit boss and after watching them he was rolling, his comment was "if they worked for him, they would be so fired"....LOL

Everybody had a blast and Global-Player players dominanted the three main tournaments winning all 3 events.

We also had three players come from Germany to play in the tournaments. Klas (sirklas on Global) won the second tournament and was 3rd in over all money winnings for the trip.

Gayle (Luckygem) won the first event (and made all three final tables she (she was the only one to do so) 2nd over all money winner)and Jan (Tgun's wife) won the third event and was the over all money winner.

    The Women Rocked

Yep, the women dominated the finals tables. Jan, Gail, Stormy, Tina, and Lorena kicked butt, though Sirklas and Charlie also did well. Congrats to all the winners in the three tournaments. We had a blast even though our cruise ship crashed.

A tad bit slower but ERROR FREE

Swog and I may have dealt a tad bit slower than the "Professional" dealers, but lets see them count a deck down as fast as we can.:D
We all do our work to the best of our abilty.

    bad pr for Carnival

I'm glad your tournament went well...and sorry to hear about your cruise. This is the second negative thing I have heard about this cruise line in the last few years. My boss went on a cruise with them about 4 years ago. I forget where she was supposed to be going--bahamas or carribean--anyway there was a hurricane coming and all the other cruise ships closed and refunded money or compensated in some way. But not Carnival. They kept going. Actually, they ended up coming back to the gulf and stopping at New Orleans where they waited out the storm. They never got to their destination and they didn't give any compensation. Unless you call sea sickness a bonus.

    Cruise was Great Fun!

Despite the mishaps in Nassau...I think that we can all agree that we had a blast on the trip! Half of the time I couldn't remember what day it was (we were so busy and I got so little sleep) and the other half I had tears in my eyes from laughing so hard.

I enjoyed meeting you all and hope that we can have a reunion again soon!

P.S. Thanks for making Katie feel so welcome...I think she'll be more willing to accompany me to tournaments in the future!

Yes, you two may have been slower at dealing, but you did a better job then any of us players could have done. Combine that with all the stategy advice you both gave us to help us out, You both did a fantastic job. I'm sure I speak for everyone in saying thank you.

A great pleasure to meet you all!!!

Joep and Swog, you both did a very good job! It was very funny to play one of Joep`s tables, he alsways tried to behave so serious. The total opposite of what he usually is... ;-)

Swog you were very funny, telling us all at the beginning, that you would only take away our chips; what sometimes really happened.

It was a great experience to meet you all finally on the cruise. I was so happy, to win one of teh finals. I didn`t expected that, also not, when I was sitting on the final table in round 1. I was thinking, you will make 6 th place and good is it. Every other place would be fine. But I was lucky and wan the 2 nd tournament.

Now I am in St, Ignace, playing the Blackjack Blowout Tournament (30000 $ Pool). I made 2 nd in the first round and have to play tomorrow at 10 am in the quarter finals. Hope I will advance another time.

Thanks for the lessons between the tournament, Joep!!!

    See you all again,

P.S.: Perhaps I will stay a little longer in the US and play the tournament in Tunica next weekend...
    Sirklas :)
