Hi I've got the basic strategy down but know little or nothing of tournament playing or betting strategy. What should I learn before entering a tournament, not wishing to make a complete fool of myself? I'm about 2 hours from AC and Foxwoods etc.... Any advice greatfully recieved. Kevin
Basics Go read Ken's tourney info on this site. It will give you a base. The Stanford Wong book has been the standard for hard copy. Go thru the archives that you find on this site and links. Tournaments are either- funny money vs. live money elimination vs. cumulative (or a hybrid) rebuys vs. none My understanding the northeast currently is not a hotbed for BJ tourneys.
OEJ is correct. A/C, Foxwoods and MS have been strictly invitational. However, Casino Niagara (Niagara Falls - Canadian side) offers a nice one day bj tournament several times a year. Buy in is $125 Canadian with $10,000 to the winner (147 players max). Top three finishers are automatically entered in the March finals, which top prize is $100,000 Canadian. Entry fee for the March finals is $1,000.
I'm really glad I joined this site. Thanks guys that really is just what I was looking for. All the Best Kevin
