Which Hilton monthly qualifier?

Discussion in 'Blackjack Events (USA)' started by kelly_c_ritter, Jun 14, 2004.

  1. I am looking to utilize Caesars connection comps for an LVH monthly qualifier.
The problem is that neither the June nor the July dates are feasible for me.
With the impending sale of LVH, I need to pick a date fairly soon. Ideally, I'd like there to be something else of interest to do in terms of gambling tournaments on whatever Vegas trip I make.

One option would be to go out early for the August tournament and catch the New Frontier bj tournament. I actually prefer either craps or baccarat tournaments to bj. I've never played in a Let it Ride tournament. I see that LVH has one of those the week before their August bj qualifier. Anyone have any comments on let it ride tournaments or any feel at all as to how many entrants they might get? Is there anything else likely to be going on from a tournament standpoint in between the New Frontier bj tourney and the August LVH qualifier?

Does anyone have any suggestions as to reasons that any of the other LVH qualifier dates this year might be a better or a worse choice than the August date? The main drawback of the August window as I see it, is that it would have me out there for about a week and a half if I do the New Frontier as well as the LV Hilton tournaments, and that is a bit longer than I'd like. I do live on the East Coast, and Vegas trips are not something I do very regularly these days.

    LIR & mini BJ tournaments

Hey Kelly, I've never played Let It Ride but it's a very popular tournament at LVH. Dealers were conversing (during the March BJ qualifier) about the crowded LIR tournies; the most recent one before March was overbooked & extra dealers/tables had to be made available.

As for what to do in August between the Frontier & Hilton, one option is mini BJ tournaments (look for a post on this site by TXTournamentPlayer for schedules). You may also wish to look at www.lasvegasadvisor.com for tournament (including non-BJ) schedules.

    Kelly,
When I called last week to book this week's MDBJ3 event at LVH, it sounded like the switch was already in progress. Assuming that was the case, your urgency is probably gone. If you'll be allowed to use your comp dollars to buy-in with the new management, you're in fine shape. If not, you may already have missed your window of opportunity.

The good news for those of us with comp dollar accounts: It sounds as though we may have managed to double-dip, and have our existing comp dollar balance available at both LVH and other Caesar's properties. I'll let you know for sure after this weekend.

  4. Connection Comps still can be used

I just called up the LV Hilton, and they are still accepting connection comps for tournament entries. The lady I talked to did not know, however, how long that option would still be available. I asked about the capacity of the let it ride tournament, and was told they could handle up to 900 entrants. If the prize fund is fixed at $100k, then this tournament becomes very uninteresting with far fewer entrants than that.

    Hilton Park Place Affiliation

I was at Caesars last weekend and was told that we could no longer earn or use Connection points at LVH.
Do we know whether LVH will be keeping their full pay video poker machines?

Comp Dollars & August tournament schedule

Don't worry Kelly, good news for all with LV Hilton “COMP DOLLARSâ€. I just talked to Erick (in marketing LV Hilton) and he told me everything will stay the same, so don’t worry about losing your comp dollars or having to booking the MDIII early.

They are still good and will remain good for the Hilton. That is any earned at the Hilton are good "only" at the Hilton and other Ceasars comp dollars "won't" be good at Hilton. This is if I was told correctly.

  7. Just Entered August qualifier

Thanks for alerting me to the possibility of a Fitzgerald's bj tournament in August. That gave me just enough impetus to commit myself to the LVH August qualifier. I just finished talking to LVH, and was told that the option to use Caesar's comp points for the tournament entry would only be available through the end of this week. My situation might be different from that of others because the overwhelming majority of my Connection comps were earned at properties other than LV Hilton.
