I resently played in a blackjack tournament where the minimum bet was $25 dollars, but you could bet in increments of $5 above that. They didn't offer $2.50 chips, so a $25 blackjack would be rounded down to $35 instead of $37.50. My question is which is better, a $25 or $30 bet over a 25 hand tournament? On one hand an even bet of $30 will pay the true $45.00 blackjack payoffs, however how many blackjacks will you get during a 25 hand session? Now with a $25 bet your losing $5.00 less on each hand you lose over the 25 hands. Most players I have talked to perfer the even bets, not wanting to lose the $2.50 on the blackjack, however I perfer the $25 bet, giving up the possible $2.50 on blackjack over risking the extra $5 dollars on every hand. What do you think is better and why?
increments blackjacks are rare enough that the loss of $2.50 on a bj is very likely to have much less impact on your results than going with a $25 bet when you want to bet the minimum - an even worse situation - in a tourney at Casino Pauma - they used a min bet of $25 and offered surrender - but - had no chips of less than $25 in value - so - in example - if you surrendered a $75 bet - they would give you back...only $25 .... I considered that a sufficiently good reason to bet in $50 increments -
