Hi I am new here, and I sure am glad I found this place. Maybe you can all help me. I am curious as to who provides the best overall online blackjack tournament experience? What are all of your opinions?
Online BJ Tournament Global-Player's Wednesday and Tournament cruise tournaments are positive value for the players and have a good history of quick pay-outs and great customer support, in my opinion.
There was just one place... ...but now there are two. Global-player.com are highly respected here and some of the top, top tournament bj players play there (you will have seen some of them on WSOB!) My advice, download the software, register and get playin'. Great community chat there as well, very friendly, happy to help. New on the scene last week was blackjack21.com. They offer practice games for free so it's worth checking them out for that. Get good practice before you start to risk your BR. You need to watch this space over the next few weeks or months to see what feedback the site gets before you part with your green though. And that's it. Pretty soon there will be a third, part of the UBT machine, so TBJ players will start to have a choice! Almost unheard of. Cheers Reachy
Global vs. Blackjack21 I think Reachy gives you good advice to start at Blackjack21.com to get free practice before you start betting your BR. I've been playing free games at Blackjack21 for about a week now and I'll give you a few of my thoughts about both sites. I'll start with the facts and then give you my opinions. Facts- At global you play 15 hands vs. 10 hands at blackjack21. You start out with a bankroll of $1000 at Global vs $2000 at Blackjack21. My Opinion- I feel the more hands that are played are advantageous to the skillfull player. I prefer playing 28-30 hands that are the norm at many of the land based casinos. That's not an option on line. I also think that having a smaller starting bankroll is advantageous to a player that is good at money management. My experience at blackjack21 so far tells me you need to fire up bigger bets earlier in the game and hope you get lucky. My advice is to get a little free experience at Blackjack21 and then move over to Global where many of the top blackjack tournament players play. Playing at Global will definately make you a better player by learning from the experienced players. I know it has definately helped me. More Hands + Less Starting Money = Better Tournament
Yes!! I feel that it is just like a coin flip to determine a winner... But on the other hand....comparing to poker the blackjacktournament family is still very small and maybe this is a way to attract more people...
blackjack21 I signed up and played today. Blackjack21 is not bad...It certainly isn't anywhere close to Global. There is some merit to this site. They give you $1,000 free play money to play sit and go's. I played...and the software works well...I think it has a place for the "newbies" I also played against Assainsbrother...for those who have had a discussion with him...he plays on this site..play him and rate him if you want.I enjoyed playing there...they also are giving a FREE multi table tournament on July 6th...I recommend checking this site out.
Just played a full table and I didn't like it!! 8 players and just 10 rounds, I was only last to bet once!!! Definitely felt like a coin toss. I totally get what thrasht said earlier in the thread. More rounds, slightly less players per table please. Also, the FREE multi-table is only free if you deposit and play a certain number of games ($55 and 5 mano a mano or $110 and 5 S&G) Cheers Reachy
Just My Opinion I've tried a number of poker sites. Whittled my selections to two. For various reasons. A long time ago, on this site, Global Player was recommened. I trust this site and the info shared here and one of the best recommendations was Global. For the BJ tourneys. I don't think you'll(anybody) find a fairer tournament game(hell, even live). The site administrators care about their players, make accomodations, are always trying to improve and satisfy their players and their type of customer service went out of style at even fast food restaurants 10 years ago.
My Report to noman, Reachy and All Over the last few days I've been able to play 13 games for money and numerous free games at blackjack21.com. My observations while playing in the free games are folks come out of the gates firing up big bets hoping to get lucky. With only 10 hands to play those that bit big and pray to the blackjack gods the most win. Basic strategy, that I feel should be used in the early rounds, is pretty much out the window with quite a few players. While playing in the 13 games for money I noticed the players were more conservative in their betting and did use better basic strategy in the early rounds. Positives at Blackjack 21 (in my opinion) I really like the advanced bet and advanced play buttons. Especially in the early rounds when most players know what they're going to bet and how they're going to play their hands before it's their turn. This helps speed up the game a bit. It should be noted that the other players don't see your advance choices until its your turn to play. I like the 20 second's per turn opposed to 30 seconds at Global though it can get hectic on the last few hands. It should be noted that Global gives you 60 seconds on the first and last hand. I also believe quite a few players at Global would disagree with me and say they like the 30 second rule. I can be a real grumpy old fart at times. Negatives at Blackjack 21 (again my opinion) The $2 vig opposed to the $1 vig at Global is a real killer. I like to play quite a few games and I can tell already that the $2 is going to be a real drain on my bankroll. I would really like Blackjack21 to play 15 rounds or more per tournament. I would like the sit 'n go's at Global to go with 20 rounds. Again, I believe quite a few players at Global would disagree with me and want to keep it at 15. I've played a few games with 8 players at the table and it really becomes a crap shoot. Again, fire up big bets and pray to the blackjack gods. I think 5-6 players max would be a good change. Final Observation Don't get me wrong. I do enjoy playing at the new site and from what I have heard/read/ and seen they are being receptive to player needs. Lately I've had a hard time getting a game at Global and it's been nice to have another site to play at. My loyalties are with Global because they have always been fair to me and very receptive to mine and the other player needs. I do believe there is room out in the netherworld for more than one site.
What if Global offered free practice games? I think they'd get more action. I log on and if I don't see anybody in chat I often log straight off again. If there were practice games I'd register for them, as I do at BJ21.com, and wait until soimeone turns up, just leave it on in the background. I also think that it might tempt some newbies who are worried about jumping in at the deep-end and going into real money games straight away against some of the best players out there. It would also allow you to get familiar with the software. Go on Global, give it a go, start a few free practice tables, and watch the player numbers on the real money tables go up. Cheers Reachy
Here's an idea! Why doesn't Global-Player list all players who are online in the chatroom in Blue and players on the chat in Red. I am like Reachy, I check the chat and leave if no one is in the chat, but sometimes there maybe a few players online, (just not on the chat). Just an idea.
Bj21. Thrasht: Great info. Thanks for being the guinea pig. Now when they reduce the players at the tables and increase the rounds with a reasonable vig at any level buy-in, I'll knock heads with you there.
