Here's some new information about GSN's World Series of Blackjack 2007:

The following casinos are confirmed to be holding qualifying events:
    • Atlantic City Hilton, NJ: Multiple events leading up to final Saturday, Dec 9.
    • Pearl River Resort, MS: Events from late November through January.
    • Choctaw Casino, OK: Events in November and December, final December 15th.
    • Mystic Lake, MN: Tuesday nights in November, final Dec 5th.
    • Soaring Eagle, MI: Events now through Christmas.
    • Silver Legacy, Reno: Events going on now, seat awarded late November.
    • Lucky Eagle, WA: Events going on now, seat awarded mid-January.
    • Thunder Valley, CA: Invitationals only.
Additional casinos are likely to announce qualifiers soon.

The WSOB final event will be in Vegas in late January.

I haven't checked the Event Calendar listings yet, but please update them as you find out additional dates and times for these qualifiers.

It's time to go to work guys. Let's get it done!

    St. Ignace

At their last big tourney St. Ignace told players that they're holding WSOB qualifiers next year starting in January. They plan to have weeklies starting in January which will place finalists in a final event in October.

With the WSOB final event played in January, that doesn't seem to jive.

Which Choctaw casino will they be using or is it multiple ones like Tulsa's Cherokee casino did last year?

  8. They will probably hold it in the Golden Moon. I was up there last night playing in their weekly BJ Tourny and there were signs up about the WSOB qualifier. Even if they played at the Silver Star for some strange reason, it is just a short people mover ride across the street.

Sounds like an accumulation event to me.

    Durant, OK I believe

BJMailman, I think it is the one in Durant, but I am not 100%.

  11. AC Hilton Qualifier

I haven't checked on how the Atlantic City Hilton is running their qualifier this time, but I'm at least 95% sure that it is the same way they've done this in the past. Anyone with a player card gets one free shot per week (I think you
might be able to get a second free shot after 4 hours of rated blackjack play that day). You play 10 hands with no max bet, trying to turn your starting chips into a few zillion or so. They usually post the highest score so far, so you know what you are shooting for, and obviously you are better off playing extremely late in the day. The line to play does get longer near the end of the day, and people do start jockeying for position to try and be the last person in line before the casino people indicate that a specific person will be the last one to play. My conclusion in the past has been that the equity of this is so small that it isn't worth the time I would have to wait in line to play.

    Soaring Eagle?

Does anyone have any info on the Soaring Eagle, MI WSOB Event? If so, please post to the CALENDAR.

Nothing appears on their web site and no tournaments have ever been posted to this site's CALENDAR. Don't know if they ever had any tournaments. If not, should be interesting - or maybe challenging is the word.

    aol qualifier

Does anyone know if AOL will be holding a qualifier event? Didn't they do something like that last year?

    Aol

I have been watching AOL periodically for some announcement, but nothing so far. They still hold their daily tournaments starting at 8:00 PM central. Get about 300-500 players. It is free, just divide up the $100 play money entry fee amoung the winners. They started out giving out "tournament chips" which I figured were going to be needed to play in a special tournment like WSOB, but they haven't done that in a long time, so don't know what it will be used for. Last year it was strictly a sweepstakes drawing. I figure this year might be some competition instead.

    Pearl River

Did you happen to see any mention of dates or how the tourney was going to be handled? I thought they had canceled their weekly tournaments a while back, but I see it on their web site again. I will have to make some time to get there for a weekly if the EV is still as good as it was before. Just a long drive for a worknight...

    Scarey Eagle

    Toolman,

Here is the link to their webpage and information: WSOB at Scarey Eagle which is located in Mount Pleasant, MI

I thought someone had already posted? I'll check and post if not already posted.

    "Scarey Eagle"

    DanMayo:

Thanks for the info. Kind of weird that your link reads "Scarey" Eagle. But it worked so that's what counts. It's interesting that I logged onto their website (i.e. Soaring Eagle) the "normal" way and I couldn't find anything on WSOB. Go figure.

    Just a Nickname

    Toolman,

The "Scarey" Eagle is just the text I put onto the link. The nickname comes from them having some of the worst Blackjack conditions in the state. But the closest competition is a couple hours away so they don't care and get a lot of ploppies anyway.

$100K tourneys you will get an invite if you get a suited BJ while playing at cash table there (make sure you keep an eye out and ASK when you get one).

Their other tourneys ($250K) etc. are based on play at the store...

    Good luck
