It's my understanding that the upcoming World Series of Blackjack Satellites have SOLD OUT! For those of you who were unable to get in, I'd suggest showing up anyway and seeing if any slots open up. There should be some available on January 24 since several players who have signed up for that day will likely have won seats in the satellites held on the previous day. Good luck to all of you...

    KBelinkoff,

Thanks for bringing these events to the attention of the tournament players and blackjack players in general. Others who control tournaments should take note: SPONSOR SOMETHING WORTHWHILE WITHOUT COMPLEX QUALIFICATIONS AND WE WILL COME.

By the way, what is the final number of seats that will be awarded for each event - the $2,500 event and the $1,000 event?

    WOW!

    Ok, Gang, Roll Call time.

    Who's going to represent BJT.com?

Thank you GSN and KBelinkoff for making these seats available. I'm glad to see the community support this effort in such a convincing manner. Now let's get some BJT faces on the show.

sorry, i'm a little confused as to what you could possibly be referring to... do you think that the countless playUBT.com freerolls and bet21.com qualifiers are "too complex" for the average player?

getting 'something for nothing' seems pretty easy in my book!!

    "Money for Nothing........."

I would have to agree with that sentiment, HD.

    Woah.....

    A little defensive....

I took the comments as sentiment toward all the B&M's that refuse to make any effort at attracting our dollars....cep if you are a whale.

But since you mentioned the free rolls....I'll repeat my feeling about them...

First of all they are GREAT...but...they have served their porpose and now in fact and maybe only in my mind... they are ruining the game!

The best thing I can say about them is that they are free....nothing else is beneficial to the game...in fact they are not attracting players to the regular on line game in any numbers that I notice...but I dont track it either so I could be way wrong...

Look at the winners....anyone see any winners playing at UB/Bet21....??? I see Stubbs UBT ocasionally (he won a St Kitts seat I think....or maybe Aruba???but no one else....

I understand why....I play the poker free rolls too... yet I rarely play poker..and in fact the more poker free rolls I play the more disuaded I am from playing the real money game... and its probably for the same reasons....these free rolls are nothing more than lottery games where normal stratgey is ignored and its simply a free for all... all in hope for the best... lottery shot...

Now...is that Bet21 fault??? Certainly not. They are trying and the best example is the continued higher ev guarenteed games nightly and most important the huge 25,000 dollar event and sats for it....but the free rolls arent attracting more regular players...in fact the support they are attracting is a little sad really....

I guess the tournament BJ game has just a limited amount of interested persons and a lot of those people are so tight they only go after the higest ev games offered....and if you are not gonna support the game ....dont cry when it goes away....as it must!

Im not all fuzzy about WSOBJ ....I think they could have a few free rolls...a few online drawings...just a few ....but at least you can get a shot at this game for a reasonable fee...its was smart marketing and that is a proven by the sold out status...there is plenty of room for WSOBJ and UBT and in fact compitition can help both by the increased attention of these events....both places marketing departments should note what is working and use it...

Then we might get real tournaments with a broad talented diverese groups that can all play the game....not just the same ole same ole every year where they simply pass the trophy between one of the seven returning players.

Personally Im not interested in going to any casino unless they are working at giving me a good value in a tournament...these fat cats have gotten lazy cartering only to high stakes fools who dont mind be parted from their money...good for them ...its good work if you can keep em coming...

Im hoping that UBT and WSOBJ are both the greatest of successes!!!! They are working and investing in a fair and fun game...one that hopefully will explode and get every ole lady and man up off their azzes and away from those slot machines to come over and see what all the excitement is about!

    I hate freerolls!

I have to agree about freerolls, I can't stand them. I tried to do fgk's freeroll study but after one game I couldn't bring myself to play another. Horrible, horrible things!

Incidentally Stubbs won another freeroll and at the live final table he won to take home $40 large. Ask him what he thinks of freerolls  !

    Cheers

    I think you mis-understood Toolman...

Toolman wasn't slamming UBT or Bet21, (He doesn't even play online events).

What I believe Toolman was talking about was just the other WSOB qualifiers around the country, where you had to qualify and then come back to play in the finals to try and win your seat.

What KBelinkoff is offering us at the Las Vegas Hilton on Jan. 23rd & 24th is just a one time shot, we win and were in.

TX you are correct.Toolman & I have talked when we were at B&M tournaments. He was just commending the WSOB for offering the opportunity to play.We have always said, open the tournaments up to everyone, charge a fee if you must & then if you are able to attend & play then good for you, and, also while you are there, give the casino some side play. They will be more inclined to have more tournaments in the future.

    Lighten up, man

You really need to get rid of your persecution complex. I was merely thanking KBelinkoff for his efforts to make WSOB participation possible for us little guys without jumping through a lot of hoops. Evidently, you took my comment much more personal than it was intended. You need to understand that not everything posted on this forum refers to UBT and believe it or not, the BJ tournament world does not revolve around UBT. I was referring to BJ tournaments in general that feature a large prize pool but make you jump through many hoops to qualify and/or require many return trips back to a casino to play succeeding rounds. If UBT doesn't fit this description then my comment does not apply but if it does then so be it. No need to get all flustered.

PS: Thanks guys for the correct interpretation of my comment.

I was merely responding to HD's comment re: freerolls and something for nothing seems good.

Stubbs won a freeroll, then 40 large at a live table? Details, please! Sounds like a UBT thing, or was it something else?

    Elsewhere

I read about Stubbs in another place ;) but have no other details. He's obviously got some freeroll skills...

I understood where you were coming from with your initial post and I expect most others did too.

    WTG Toolman !

Nice post. It needed to be said. UBT offers good opportunities to BJT players but it is not the centre of the BJ Universe. Far from it.
There are lot's of other venues that offer good BJT opportunities and it is clearly in the players' interests that there should be many options. This website should support that premise and probably does.

hey, its all good, man. didn't mean to misinterpret your sentiments... easy to do around here sometimes. ;) and in return, i intended my own comments to come off much lighter than its been interpreted as well.

    no worries, mate!

    Hollywood,

As Monkeysystem aptly pointed out in a post from a while back - written words can, and often do, get misinterpreted. I think we both now understand each other's posts much better. So, let the games begin! :D
