    Congratulations to all todays winners.

Well I don't know everybody who won today, but here are the ones I know.

    Hollywood
    Mikki Sullivan
Luxor - He was at my table.
    Norm S.
    Henry Tran
    Jarek M.
They only had 10 tables today and these are the only 6 players I knew that won. I'll try to find out the rest tomorrow.

My luck is still running about the same unfortunately, all bad...LOL

With 3 hands left (sitting in BR2) I bet $3,400 and caught 8/8 vs. dealers 5. I split and catch a 3 and DD, using my power chip I check the card (an 8 for 19), I stand and hit a King on my second hand for 18.

The dealer flips a 3 for total of 8, hits another 3 and then a Jack....OUCH!!!!!

I win that hand and I'm up over one and half max bets with onky two hands left, instead I'm down to 300 and out. O'well I'll try again tomorrow.

AC had a bad beat on his last hand, after the dealer busted the only player who could beat him had DD on a hard 17. The player had to catch an Ace, 2, 3, or 4 to win and beat AC....of course he caught a 4, another OUCH!!!!

I'll try and up date tomorrow night as well, hopefully with better results.

Today there were several last hand 21's by the dealers that really killed several players trying to come from behind.

    Not in Vegas

Thanks for including me in the players in Vegas, but unfortunately I have a day job that takes priority and couldn't get there. I will be playing at the Fitzgeralds in Tunica this weekend though, so wish me luck there!

    Wanted to real bad

Yeah, when the news first broke I checked into it and found a cheap ticket and wanted to go real bad. Unfortunately things here at work prevented me from taking time off and besides the boss lady said no, so that pretty well sealed the deal.

    :)

Good luck to everyone in Vegas!

    Let's see;

Toolman was down to 3 players on his table for the last hand, but was BR3. S. Yama won that table, also on the table was Roy Vest.

I am not sure about fgk, I haven't met him yet. I didn't know he was out until Eastxpro told late yesterday.

I didn't see the match, but I heard joep was on Hollywoods table.

Not sure if Barney, Pergo, or Rando are here, I haven't met them yet anyway.

Thrasht lost on the last hand, to Henry Tran (I forgot Henry won, he was on last years WSOB). Robert Bleckman was also on that table.

Deltaduke had my kind of luck, on his last hand he split 9's and DD one of them, only to have the dealer draw a 21. Rosemary (Mikki) Sullivan won that table, also on the table was Darrell (Rock & Roll) Arnold.

On my table (the one Luxor won) we had Eastxpro and Bob Conley.

    More Players

Toolman, FGK, DeltaDuke, Joep, and Rock 'n roll Darrell were other players here from bjt.com but did not advance. I played well and was in the game on the last hand. I was dealt a hard 13 and was forced to dd to get more money on the table. I used my power chip to check the card and got a 9 so I replaced it. The dealer drew to 18 and when they flipped over my second dd card I received another 9 and busted out. If I drew a 6,7 or 8 on I would have been in. Bummer, but there's still today to get in.

    Thanks all...

I'll add that I played today as well in a WSOB $1025 and although I busted out at the end trying to get in, I think I played pretty well. More importantly, I can say it was great to meet so many truly friendly people from the tournament community--both stars and lesser known but great players alike--here in Vegas and at Barona.

Everyone was overwhelmingly nice to a new guy on the block...

My last stop on this trip will be to play tomorrow's Palms UBT weekly--I'll have to hope I get some cards at THAT event...!

    Best all-Sabrejack

I played in the 2500 at a table with HD and Joe Pane.

It came down to the final hand 24.

I was on the button ! Drat.

I max bet and asked for a pair of 10's

I got ladies. Dealer had an 8 showeing

    I split the queens.

First Queen I pulled a 3. Not being familiar with the power chip and the way to use it I exchanged my 3 for a new card - a 7! Drat

My second queen was a face.

So I had two max bets, 17 & 20 with not enough to split the second 20.

HD was next and it came down to the person to my right. He max bets, doubles down, uses the power chip throws something away and busted.

I don't know the final result but HD has high chip total, I'm second.

    Two things COULD have happened:

    1. If I just hit my 13 I would have pulled the 7 for a 20. Then I would have pulled the second face for two 20's. That extra max bet would have put ME in the finals instead of HD

    2. If the dealer pulled a 9 under the 8 I would have pushed on the one hand and won the other. HD would have lost his DD and I would have won.

BUT it wasn't meant to be.

HD was in rare form, posing, primped and smacking for the camera.

Of note HD AND Joep's use of the POWER CHIP.

Joe Pane has an Ace and 6 with a 4300 bet. He uses his Power Chip to exchange the 6 and pulls a QUEEN for BJ! 4300 pays 6450! I'm STILL hearing that in my mind

HD has a 15 and DD on a monster bet. He uses his Power chip to see that he busted. So he exchanges the DD card and pulls a 5 for a 20!

More later - too tired now!

Good Luck to all and it was a pleasure to meet fellow BJT.com players!

    Use of Power Chip

I didn't know that you could use the Power Chip to replace a DD card that busted you. I thought once you busted that was it.
What about after taking a series of hits can you replace the hit card that busted you? Or can you replace any of the cards (not just the last hit card that busted you)?
What about after a series of hits and you haven't busted can you replace any of your cards or just the last hit card?

    Power Chip:
You can replace either of your first two cards, before acting on the hand.

If you hit, you can replace the most recent hit card.

You can also use the Power Chip to peek at a face-down double card, and then decide to either keep it or replace it.

All of the above is available, even if the originally dealt card busted you.

the Power Chip ....ah the Power Chip! People talk about how secret bets are powerful but that ain't nothing compared to the uses of some power chips that I saw.

The obvious use is to replace an upcard before you're dealt anything. Joe P did this to replace a 6 (Ace-6) and got dealth a Queen for an immediate BJ paying 3:2. The obvious use.

The second most obvious that I saw was Ken Smith in Round 1 of the 1,000 tourney. His 4th card busted Ken. He used the Power chip, replaced the bust card and the new card kept him from busting on a max bet! Dealer busted on that hand - so he had a 10,000 personal swing (from losing 5,000 to winning 5,000) really cool!

The last use was people had two card. You DD. The card comes out face down. If you use the power chip you get to see it! In HD's case he DD on a hard 15 and pulled a face card. Using his power chip he traded the face for a new DD down card. He COULD'VE pulled another face but Noooooooooo it was a 5 for a 20 on a max bet!

Three GREAT examples that I saw and wish I couldn't duplicated.

    What's the verdict?

    Fgk42,

You have now played in both WSOB and EBJ tournaments.

    Which game do you prefer?

    awwwww.... poor freddy! lol

if it makes you feel any better, when i used my power chip to look at the DD card on my hard 15, the FIRST card i was dealt was the 5 -- i never actually replaced my DD. of course, had there been a face card underneath, i woulda thrown it away and crossed my fingers, but the 5 was just fine for me! that hand was key because not only did i pick up a max bet DD on that hand when the dealer made an 18 to my 20, but i also achieved a nice swing of the table when most other players (yourself included, unfortunately) either lost or pushed large/max bets. Hey, its gotta happen SOMETIMES, right?

you played well, and i appreciated your aggressive tendencies at that table, since most of the other players were just sitting back and waiting. as for the last hand...you should be flattered...because the only reason i DIDN'T hit my 13 vs dealer 8 is because you had exactly a 17 and a 20, and i found more value correlating with your 17 than hitting and potentially busting my hand, opening up a swing if the dealer busts. By waving off, the only way i could've lost that table is if the dealer made a 17 EXACTLY (with the 8 up) or if the guy who was last to act was able to successfully use their powerchip to win that DD.

Sometimes it certainly feels like 'bad luck' when you would've advanced 'if only' one or two things woulda happened differently out there, but then you have to realize as well -- other players are reacting to the circumstances differently than they would have had these differences actually occurred. ie, on that last hand if you end up with 2 20's instead of a 20 and a 17, i would've actually HIT my 13...and have a very realistic shot to hit to 19, 20, 21... etc. So realize that just because things didn't go your way this time, HAD they actually gone your way, there were many other counteractive moves that other players could've taken to still beat you in the end!

i'm not trying to chastise you, but rather illuminate a bigger issue, which is the tendency of people to blame all their losses on bad luck or bad cards (or the luck of other players) rather than simply learning from the experience & using it as a training tool for the future. i'm just as guilty as everyone else in this department -- shit, last weekend at Barona i only lost advancing to the quarterfinals because some luckbox unnecessarily hit a 17 on the last hand (the rest of the table had stiffs) and pulled a 4!! But at a certain point you have to wonder if there were other things we could've done to position ourselves better for that final hand.

anyway, tough breaks but we suck it up and move on. getting in the habit of blaming bad luck for our losses only prevents us from objectively analyzing our play and the play of others at the table. don't fall into that trap, my friend...

    -hd.
