Just got my notice in the mail today for qualifying for the 2007 WSOB at Lucky Eagle Casino in Rochester, WA. They start qualifying on Aug. 6th and have 6 total qualifying dates thru Jan. 7, 2007. They will take 7 winners per tournament and have the finals on Jan. 14, 2007 for a total of 42. It should be noted they invited their high rollers into the final last year for a total of 84 players for the one spot. Needless to say I didn't make it last year but will go for it this year. $85 entry fees with $42.50 re-buys.

Hope we have some local qualifiers soon.

Tulsa was the closest qualifier for me last year, I am planning on going back again this year (if they have them).

But I really hope is that we have some closer qualifiers as well, Durant, OK (about an hour away from Dallas/Ft. Worth would be nice).

Even Shreveport, LA would be nice (about 2 3/4 hours away).

The WSOB was a blast two years ago and I would love to get back on the show for next year. The $500,000 or more 1st prize would be a pretty good bonus as well...LOL

    To Barney and Darrell

Hey guys, I'll be playing in most of the qualifiers at Lucky Eagle. Even if I qualify in one of the early tournaments I will play in the other ones to give it my best at the $5000 prize pool. I only live about 30 minutes from the casino so would be interested in getting together for dinner, gambling, etc. I would be honored to buy purple hooters for all after we play and qualify. LOL Thrasht

Barney, give me some lead time before you come down and I'll hide my ladybugs, praying mantis and cinnabar moth larvae before you get here. lol

I had never had a purple hooter until I met rock 'n roll Darrell at a blackjack tournament at the Las Vegas Hilton last spring. A group of us that play on Global got together at the tournament and went out for dinner and drinks afterwards. Man it was a party. When I meet you in person ask me to tell you a story (make that stories) about Rick Jensen who was also there (ha). thrasht

    Watchout for the Purple Hooters!

Now remember that I won't be up there when y'all start drinking all these Purple Hooters and I'm the only non-drinker that was there to watchout for y'all last time...LOL.

All kidding aside good luck to all of y'all and I hope you all win a seat for next years WSOB.

Hey Maria, Glad to hear you might make it up this way. Stormy says hi back to you and we'll definately count you in for some purple hooters. As you can tell I was trying to get a reaction out of BigTex in my previous post but he didn't bite. And as you well know you are part of those stories also. lol thrasht

    WHere are listings

Where does one find out about qualifying events for the WSOB? Are they invitation only, or are there casinos with open qualifying events?

I wish we knew. GSN has been completely silent on the matter of WSOB IV qualifiers. This Washington event is the only one I've heard about.

Hey GSN, how about some help here!

    Lucky Eagle

Last year we tried to qualify at the Lucky Eagle ,but there were to many collusions between players, spectators, and dealers. We informed Lucky Eagle management, but was overruled. I'm very disappointed with the Lucky Eagle Casino. The following was posted by me last year.

Several of us players noticed on the semi-final round of player’s collusion. A tournament player had a five hundred-dollar bet with two face cards. She was about to split the face cards with another five hundred-dollar bet. She looked up at her husband (I’m guessing), he shook his head, no. She didn’t split her face card. If she had split the face cards, she would have lost. Unfortunately, she won the table. This was just one of the times she received coaching from the gallery. The gallery was just inches away from the table players. Lucky Eagle personal did not control the gallery watching the tournament. They should have controlled the gallery. We complained and were over ruled.

Forty-two (42) will adavance from the monthly BJ qualification and eighty-four (84) will advance from their weekly tournaments and Players Club. Good luck and players be aware of collusion.

Good and Bad News from Lucky Eagle

The Bad news- I bombed out today in the first of six qualifying tournaments at Lucky Eagle.

The Good news- My Girlfriend Stormy made it to the final table and has now qualified for the final tournament on January 14th. The winner of that tournament goes to Vegas to play in the WSBJ for 2007.

One difference from last year's tourney at Lucky Eagle is they are using the Knock Out card now. They only have one knock out round but it sure mixed things up today. No Burger King power chip though.

Congrats to Storm. That's my girl. Signed, the proud boyfriend

Great news about Stormy. Do all the players at the final table get to go in Jan? Is the KO card placed in the middle or random? How many decks? What type of shuffler do they use?

    TIA

Hey Barney, Yes all 7 players at the final table qualify for the tourney in January (five more qualifiers to go). Lucky Eagle also runs a smaller BJ tourney on Tuesday nights and the winner (only the winner) also advances to the Jan. tourney. I forgot to mention in my previous post that the KO card was only used in the semi's and finals. Storm said they put the KO card in the middle of the second six deck shoe (hand shuffled). The tourney plays 30 hands and in the finals the KO came out with about 10 hands to play. Storm said it came out with about 15 hands to play at her semi final table. She said she could pretty much follow it and knew within a hand or two when it would come out (she pays very good attention to detail). It was a fun tourney and I think you'll enjoy it if you get up this way this fall. thrasht

    Congratulations Storm

Congratulations Storm, good luck in the finals. Sounds like the girls are kicking ass this week over the guys. ;)

First Storm makes it to the finals over Thrasht and then today at the Gold Strike Amy (Applejax) made it to the finals over UTVOLFAN (her husband), and got 2nd place for a whopping $31,000!

Nice good ladies! Better watchout boys looks like y'all are starting to get heavy to you women...LOL :D

    Stormy Rocks Agains

Storm made the final table in today's qualifier finishing second and now gets to play twice in the final tourney at lucky Eagle on January 14th. They play the first round in two sessions and Storm will play in each one. The winner of that tourney goes to Vegas to play in the WSBJ for 2007.

Stormy was tied for first after the final count but was defeated in a four hand playoff. Bummer but way to go, awesome.

On a sad note. I was in the semi-finals with one advancing to the finals. On the last hand the only way I couldn't advance was with the dealer making a 20. Guess what? Yep. I sure would have loved to be at the final table with my girl. That's it for my whining, crying and bitching.
