No one as thought about alternates for the WSOB this year. Just think there are 25 players who have won their seat, but really none of them are seasoned tournament players and this might be the first time for them to be on TV. That is a lot of presser for some people, what if one of them can't handle that presser? I am assuming that alternates would be inserted into their playing spots. The interesting point would be who decides who would play? If the sponsoring casino paid for the seat would they get to decide who get's to play? Would it be the production company? GSN or just who is avalible out there at the time of filming? Just something to think about, maybe coming out to watch shows isn't a bad idea.
Ditto Was thinking the other day how they would handle the spots for those who did not make it to the WSOB. You would think the 25 people who already qualified would have arrangements in order, but you never know. Also with the remaining spots so close to the date, there might be some if chosen who might not be able to commit. Never know, it might be a good idea to be close just in case. I know I wouldn't be there just to watch and hoping someone wouldn't show. Hard enough to take off work without the guarantee. Take care Capt.
we have our own show stars are born every day in blackjack.someone should setup a ranking system so the whole world knows who is a star.blackjack is a game where anyone at anytime can win.the ranking would tell all of us who had that special talent like yarek ken smith ken einiger and some other selected few.sorry if i didnt mention your name.it would make sense to play to dethrone the champ.just a thought.eastexaspro
Like It. How would you rank them? Would it be based on a point system for the major tournaments across the country. I know someone talked about this in a previous post about a Pro BlackJack Tour,(they may not have used the word Pro) and depending on your finish accumulating points. Would or Could we govern this as a group or would we need a Governing Body. Very interesting thought. Could fill in the remaining spots at the WSOB depending on rankings. Would give incentive to play all the Major Tournaments or Tournaments that matter the most. Take Care Capt.
Pro's and Con's Yea Capt. I suggested a point system before. Using major tournaments isn't the answer, you really need a tour with monthly events and a set format and rules around the country for it to work. The pro's would be that the players with the most points would be concidered the top players. The con's are with locations around the country and tournaments each week month several of the better players couldn't make them all. It comes down to whats important to you. It would be like playing pro sports, is it worth playing in farm leagues for small money in hopes to make it to the pros one day? At this time no, not until the money get's up with that of the poker tournaments. However the retired players with time, money, and freedom to travel would have the advantage in this point format. Until something better comes along it still looks like the best way to run a point system. Note that I suggest that tournaments be held around the country and not all in Vegas or Tunica. It needs to be as fair as possible for all players and if the tournaments were all held in just those cities the travel cost wouldn't be fair for the out of state players. The advantage would be huge for local players in those areas if they were the only areas hosting the tournaments. And last any casino hosting these events would have to allow ALL players into them. It wouldn't be fair if some players weren't allowed in some events while others were. Exceptions would be for a player(s) who were caught cheating and or causing major problems.
Just thinking ahead.... I was just pointing out what could happen. You need a plan for all contingencies, just in case.
