Mystic Lake now has information about their Satellite tournaments for the WSOB available at Mystic Lake WSOB Info. The big kicker in my mind, is that there is no advance registration. Just show up at 5:30 PM and stand in line. The first 280 get picked. More information available at the given link and under the Mystic Lake entry on this site.
280? I don't think so mrbill: I wouldn't be too worried about being the 281st person in line and therefore being locked out. I've played at Mystic Lake (not in a tournament) and the vast majority of players are nickle players and not willing to risk a lot. With an entry fee of $150, I'd really be surprised if they get 100 players. My best guess is 50. Maybe I'm wrong. Let us know the numbers when you get them. You best hope they don't get the 280 players per week. That makes 1,120 entries for 1 grand prize. Pretty big odds. On a separate note, I looked at their web site and found some inconsistencies in their rules. What else is new? Also, I doubt that there is a cash prize pool for the finals in their event. I found no mention of it. Good luck to you when you play!
I've played there also, and I think you're right. Mostly nickel and dime players. The only tournament I've been in up there is a free one. They got everybody and their brother for that one. I suspect this will be a lot less. I plan on going up their on the 17th. The 18th is my birthday, so I'm hoping for a little birthday luck:laugh: Fortunately I have a Gold Card so I can get in for $100.
My wife received a flyer for this sattelite in the mail yesterday. It's not really mentioned on the website but there is a prize pool for the finale also. It totals $20,000 plus entry into the WSOB plus all expense paid trip to Las Vegas for the WSOB. Edit to add that I updated the events list on this website. She also received a set of certificates for a 3 free hotel rooms in January. So we can continue our string of stays there with never having to pay for the room. Hopefully we won't have to pay for meals either.
I sent an email to marketing@mysticlake.com and asked How the tournament 1/10 went If they could tell me how many people entered. I received an email back the same day saying Since they didn't really say, I am inferring from this that if they didn't sell out on 1/10, they were pretty close. I'll know more next week after I go up for it. Was anyone that frequents this board there on the 10th?
Well, I was at the Mystic Lake weekly last night. I think it was pretty much full. Not really sure though. They were running 14 hand qualifying rounds from about 5:15 to 7:45. I ended up in the semi finals with a chance to win on the last hand. With 4 people left I was BR2 about $4000 down from BR1. I was betting and playing 3rd. BR1 was 4th. Everyone bet table max of $5000. BR1 had 17, I had KJ and the dealer had a 3. I split mine and got a 8 and a 4. Given everything I stood on each of them. Dealer had a 9 down, then drew a 5 for 17, giving BR1 the victory. He then went on to the finals and won the weekly $5000. There were only a couple negatives. First, the guy that won my table was a young guy. I don't think he's played much in BJ tournaments. I think he's a poker player actually. He was very loud and obnoxious and kept playing with his chips. When he won the final, He jumped up and yelled "Show me the Money" Second, was even though they did a count with 5 and 1 hands left, there was no requirement to stack the chips in any way. Made it difficult to know how things stood except during the count. Other than that I had a great time and wish I could enter it again.
I just noticed on the Mystic Lake website that the loudmouth I lost to in the semis, won the tournament and will be going to Vegas. So close, yet so far
Hit list! Mrbill hopefully someone from this site will get on the WSOB this year and will take him out for you...LOL.
