According to TTPlayer's post qualifying started on the 15th. Their website has zero info about the qualifiers. Anyone have a clue?
I called about this a few days ago, but accidentally threw out the paper I wrote the details on. Let's see what I can remember... $50 entry fee qualifiers on Thursdays (don't know the time). I don't know if they've already had qualifiers or not, but I was given these dates: Jan 12,19,26 and Feb 2. One winner from each of these advances to a February 9 final table which awards one seat to WSOB 2006. There are also prizes for the Feb 9 table, but they weren't much. I seem to recall less than $500 for first place, less for the others. There is still nothing on the website. Here's the phone number: 800-344-9435 If anyone calls and firms this info up, please post about it and update these details: Casino Del Sol Weekly WSOB Qualifiers Casino Del Sol WSOB Final Event
Tucson WSOB qualifier The info I have in notes is; 1) each qualifing tournament on the dates you stated starts at 6 PM 2) entry is $50 3) format is acumulation with 2 advancing each week to the finals on the last date posted 4) weekly qualification tournaments are 4 rounds of 18 hands each with the total chips won over 4 rounds determining the top 2 that advance weekly to the finals 4) registration time is 5 PM the date of the tournament with pre registration required 5) entry refund is available if timely (48-72 hours?) 6) I was told they have only had 18 to 20 participants each week to date 7) the above information is what I received by phone from the casino but confirm to your own satisfaction at 1-800-344-9435
WSOB - Casino Del Sol I have played in the two qualifiers that Del Sol has held so far and the Casino informed us that they have not been officially approved as a WSOB qualifying tournament. I confirmed this again about a week ago. They said the winner of the February 9 event will either get a WSOB entry or $35,000. The winner will not have a choice in the matter. I don't really know the details of why they are not approved yet. I thought anyone contemplating a trip to Tucson might want to have this information. D.S.
Tucson WSOB Qualifiers ShumakerDK, Your post is not at all surpising to me after the Ho-Chunk announcement. Although I am commited to attending the Tulsa qualifiers this week I have felt all along the WSOB qualifying tournaments were the most unorganized and ill planned events I've seen. We as participants are expected to blindly pay in advance expenses to attend/participate and then discover the truth later. I called to enter the Thunder Valley, CA tournament only to find after I arrived at the casino I was not eligible because I was not a VIP at their casino. There has been a lot of discussion on this site as to whether the blame for the lack of information or missinformation falls in the lap of GSN or the casinos hosting the qualifiers. This is GSN's tournament and the Buck stops there period, it's GSN's baby. I haven't seen any commercials advertising the 2006 GSN WSOB as a GSN/Indian Casino Production and GSN should have maintained control over the entire event from qualifiers to the finals.
from the GSN website Check out the list below TO FIND THE PARTICIPATING CASINO nearest you. And don't forget to tune in to check back to see the premier of World Series of Blackjack on GSN in 2006. Seneca Niagara Casino - New York Foxwoods Resort Casino - Connecticut Ute Mountain Casino, Hotel & Resort - Colorado Pearl River Resort - Mississippi Casino Del Sol - Arizona Cherokee Casino Resort - Oklahoma Thunder Valley Casino - California Mystic Lake Casino - Minnesota Ho-Chunk Casino - Wisconsin Lucky Eagle Casino - Washington Barona Valley Ranch Resort & Casino - California this gets better and better.....GSN has posted Casino del Sol on their own website. If they don't know who is "approved" then who does? It's really disappointing that an event which got such a good start could have taken so many steps back. I hope it can recover.
Knocked out in the 2nd round last night... arghhhhhhhhhhh... had $650 entering the round... built it to $1800 and finished 4th at the table.....A friend of mine finished 2nd and will be there next thursday to compete for the seat..... He has a 1 in 17 chance from what I heard last night... 0ne guy had one 2 spots in their final group to play for the WSOB seat... Hoping for an Invite... filled out the questionaire... sent in my video
Two spots in WSOB He will only get to play one spot, but that does lower the final field of players that he must beat. He also may have picked up some cash for the other qualifier that he won.
Same story in Tulsa I just arrived in Tulsa for the qualifier tonight. Instead of 24 players I found out their will be no more then 22 (two won twice). The tournament format will be: Round #1 2 tables of 6 players, 2 advance 2 tables of 5 players, 2 advance Round #2 2 tables of 4 players, 2 advance Round #3 "Finals" 1 table of 4, winner take all. I'll report back later, hopefully with good news.
Tulsa qualifier: TX I wish you good cards and greater fortune. However, can you be sure your efforts, even if you win the event will be rewarded. rookie and others going to locations to try and qualify and denied entries. Other sites abrubtly cancelling events. There are over 3,000 people, maybe 10% duplicates on this site. Many are active tourney participants, others would like to be. regardless of tv promotion, if u can't get accurate, consistant info on entry fee and location what's the point. It's an untelevised survivor contest. Work u're way thru the maze, put up with the abuse and utlimately wish for lady luck, whatever that is anymore.
Good Luck TX TX hope you qualify thru this tourney. Be nice to see someone from this site qualify. Let us know how you did. Take Care Capt.
Just heard.... Casino Del Sol will not be giving a seat to the WSOB this year, the tournament tonight is for $35k prize pool per my friend that made the final group. He said the GSN did not get licensed in Arizona so the casino can not give away the seat. Just curious if this went on in any other location and how many seats the GSN will have to give away to those that applied via questionaire & video. Either way my friend was a little disappointed but is still happy to be playing for a decent amount of money!!!!
Wow! I was a plane ticket away...extremely close to going, missed it because I wanted to watch my sons basketball game. Family saves the Day!
Damn, where do ya'll work at... $35,000 for first place and ya'll sound upset. I want to know where ya'll work at and if they are hiring. I'll take $35,000 any time...LOL.
$35,000 or a shot at $500,000 I don't know the payout structure of the WSOB, but based on the 10 or 15 really good players who will be there, the amount of luck inherent in any tournament, let alone a short-handed BJ go round, I'd be delighted to win the $35K in lieu of that free roll in Vegas.
I kinda don't feel bad about playing so horribly in the Tucson tournament now that I know it didn't matter.
