Anyone from this site in yet? LHENRYC, Luckygem, and myself are qualified for two of the qualifiying finals, on Feb. 3rd at the Cherokee casinos in Oklahoma. Has anyone locked up a seat yet or has anyone else qualified for one of the qualifying finals at any of the other locations? Does anyone know if any of the winners so far have any tournament experence other then for their local tournaments?
My point My point to the last post is what I have been saying for years. LUCK is so important in tournament play. Where are all the season tournament players? They are the most skilled, shouldn't them be in by now. Only if they find some luck soon. I have a standing bet with anyone, lets bet on every major BJ tournament (over 100 players) and I'll let you pick the top 30 players and I'll take the rest of the field and I'll win 3/4 of the time. Yes skill is important, but it does you no good without the cards and luck. In Tulsa I won the Friday event because I hit a BJ on the next to the last hand in both the semi's and in the finals (I was lucky). However on the Sunday event I was BR2 going into the last hand (2 advance) and had last bet with only 3 players left at the table. BR1 = $2,700 bet $50 BR3 = $1,775 bet $1,000 BR2 = $1,950 bet $1,000 (me) I had 2nd if we all lost and 1st if we all won. BR1 made a bad bet which I loved. BR3 bet the Max. which I also loved since it gave me a chance to pass BR1 also. All I had to do was avoid a swing with BR3. Our hands were: BR1 = 14 BR3 = 13 BR2 = 15 Dealer = 3 After BR1 passed, I told him that if we all win thathe would be the odd man out. I was trying to get BR3 to stand which would lock me in 2nd place. But BR3 DD and caught an 8 for 21, now I could lose and go to BR3. I stood, hoping for the dealer to bust. But he made a four card 20 to knock me out. On Friday I had the luck and won, on Sunday with everything in my favor I didn't and lost.
Terminology TX: Like to see you using the phrase "season players". Maybe my post on a different thread did some good!
40 Spots Open There has to be at least one person out there who has won a seat. Sidekick 1. 2. 3. 4. ...
Almost Made It TX: I was BR1 going into the final hand of the final table yesterday at Barona. I was $18,000 ahead of BR2 (min bet 1,000; max bet 25,000). I had to bet first, and put out $15,000. BR2, as I expected, bet $25,000. I was dealt a 15. BR2 was dealt a 9 and a 2. The dealer showed a 10. I surrendered. BR2 doubled down, receiving a card face down. The dealer turned over another 10 for a 20. BR2s double down card? 10! Ken E. was there (signing copies of his book, which all contestants received), as was Max Rubin, who told me he thought I would win. I was behind everyone after the first few hands but slowly overtook them.
Damn last hand! That last hand can be a killer. You were in great shape, but luck wasn't on your side and betting first didn't help. Maybe you'll get them at the next qualifier. Good luck!
I believe... Yes sidekick there are players already in the WSOB that won qualifiers, but so far none are season tournament players, (that I know of anyway). I think there were 30 spots for the WSOB that were purchase by casinos, and then 2 for the AOL give-a-way. If that is correct GSN should only have 8 remaining seats to give away. Possibly 11 if the 3 Ho Chunk seats were counted as part of the 30 purchased. MMmmmm, we have 3,700 members here alone and only 8 - 11 openings for GSN to select the remaining players. Damn I sure hope I win next week in Tulsa, I think my odds are better there....LOL
To: TXtourplayer re: Tulsa > Damn I sure hope I win next week in Tulsa, I think my odds are better there .. You are playing both days, right? Which table are you starting on; maybe I can gin you up a fan club! SR
#1 Hi Sun Runner, I'll be on table #1 on Friday. I'm not sure about Sunday yet. Don't root for me, just root for the dealer to be hot early and often...LOL. I think Lou (LHENRYC) is at my table as well on Friday. I am having to play against the St. Louis Mafia.
