  3. Last Night Re-Run

Stayed up late last night to watch Anthony win his round by having the dealer hit a twenty where Ericka pushed to take the wild card. Rick, would have done the same thing and with the dealer hitting the A, 9 that was tough. Did not understand David's surrender on the 20? Was Joep's hand you all were talking about with the 8 in the first round or semi's?

    Round one

Hi Capt. Joep's snowman (8) was on the last hand of round one.

As far as David surrendering a hard 20 vs. dealers 2, well that was something else to say the least. Max had a few words about his play...LOL

I asked David (who by the way is a good friend of mine) "WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING"? While the whole time laughing my butt off.

He tried to sell me this BS:

"If I surrendered my 20 and the dealer draws 21, I would have looked like a genius and it would make for good TV".

Duh! Dave, buddy you better go back and rethink that move...LOL.

Now as bad as that play was, Todd on King of Vegas made a worst play a couple of weeks back. He over bet and didn't have enough to split his Aces, (mistake 1). He hits and catches a 9 for 21. Being a casino excutive and knowing more then just us dumb players, Todd hits again and catches a 10 for 21, this time he stands, WHY HIT 21 the first time? It couldn't be that the casino excutive miscounted could it?....LOL

Now if Todd is a typical example of a casino excutive no wonder things at casinos get so screwed up.

    Hey Capt.
Did you see how good I looked?
You had to watch the first half of the show though.
They kicked me off the show.....after I ran out of chips.:flame:

  6. Looked Good

Yes I did see you. You looked in great shape with the big bet and then the Ace comes up for the dealer. Question, with a six deck shoe, what is the penetration and how many times did they reshuffle in that round? Enjoy watching the reruns, you looked good and sitting right next to Ericka, no offense to the other guys. lol

They just reshuffled once, but washed the cards. As far as penetration, you need to remember counting chips is more important than counting cards. Knowing the count helps very little for bet sizing, but a little for acting on your hand. I knew that I looked good, but I thought it was just me, not the fact that I was next to Erica. Oh well. ;) Maybe I can sit next to Kami or Nikki next time.

  8. Counting Chips

Am I correct is stating that there was no tote-board or leader board stating the chip lead and you had to rely on your calculations? Did anyone try to disguise their chip counts by uneven stacks and ect or even going as far as mixing colors?

    Couldn't do that

We had to seperate chips by color and chip stacks couldn't be over 20 high (and 20 high if we had that many).

There was leader boards, but we were told not to look at them (in later rounds anyway).

The production crew double checked what our bets were and what our current counts were so there would be no mistakes. If there was a mistake the hand was replayed (same cards to each player) and the correct payouts were made.

Now about Swog playing with Erica, Kenny Einiger hosted a pre-tournament party at the Golden Nugget the night before filming. Kenny and I toasted and wished that we both would make the finals (an we did) Swog saw Erica and wished that she was playing at his table (and she did).

Think Swog will make a different wish for this year....LOL.

  10. Take 2!

First of all, I'd love to play next to Erica, did she rattle swog?

Curious, what was the most times one hand had to be replayed? See we never see these what happens behind the scenes. Do they have enough footage for a bloopers edition? lol

    Not many mistakes

The most I saw was once (re-deal).

I think they would need to film the Green room for the really behind the scenes bloopers edition...LOL

    Re runs

    Capt. you have no idea.......
That show was the first one filmed.
Those 25 hands, at least I think they played 25 hands, took 3 and a half hours to complete.
Being the first one off, I was first to do the exit interview.
We shot five times to get out one question......Too long of a question.....too far away from the interviewer.........a shadow on us.
All for not, since none of them was ever used.
Oh and about Erica, she bothered me so much that I gave her the only book on tournament play to study for round two........

  13. Excellent

I'm sure quite an experience to say the least. So why so long for 25 hands? Also all the other players who played in later rounds, were they around to watch?

Did the book help her later, guess I'll have to stay tuned to watch the reruns!

    Yes and No

Angie Moneytaker, Jimmy Pine, Kenny Einiger, Me, & Jean Scott were in the second show shot on day one.

Some of that group were there early watching Round one. We had to miss some of the end due to changing clothes and make up (yes everyone has to go to make up) to get ready for our round.

Several players from day two came to watch the shows as well, but once the filming started you really weren't suppose to come in or leave the area so that limited the number of players willing to sit and watch that long.

We filmed just down the hall from the casino in the Golden Nugget so most of the player were some where in the casino I believe.

  15. Wardrobe?

Thanks for mentioning about Makeup, was wondering if that was provided. Was there wardrobe requirements? How about color restrictions and so forth? I know Hollywood stands out in the Wardrobe sometimes (Good thing) and they do not let you wear any type of logo's ect?

    Take care
    Capt.

  16. You call that wardrobe?

In all sincerity. Unique is preferable

    Yep Capt.

No logo's are allowed, but this year the casino logo's will be allowed from the locations that hosted WSOB qualifiers.

Colors are a problem, I believe it was no solid white, black, green, and blue shirts allowed. You will get a full list of do's and don't before the show if selected.

No Hats, Yep, I said no hats! That is why I wasn't wearing mine in round one. After my round one win they decide they wanted me to wear mine, so I did for the last two rounds.

That is why Max and Matt nicknamed me "COWBOY"!
