Recent information from the Hilton is that signups have been strong, and they are planning to add more seats in the $2500 events. There may be as many as 72 seats available awarding 12 WSOB seats. I haven't heard about the expansion plans in the $1000 events, but I would think they may expand as well.

    WSOB Sign-ups...

When I signed-up at 3 PM Vegas time today, there were already 32 entries into the $2,500 Tourney and 25 in the $1,000 Tourney. Just to confirm what you have said Ken, they will take up to a maximum of 72 entries into the "big one" and I'm not sure about the "small one".

Looking forward to competing again with many of you folks, and "Talking to the Cards" while I'm at it...

    Ken,

I thought that it was initially limited to 4 seats out of 24 entries. Now you're talking 12 out of 72?

Doesn't that reduce the EV for the event - since you have an additional 8 people in the overall prize pool?

Will they still keep it 1 out of 6 at the table advance?

What will be the format for the satellites?

Max Bet, min bet, BR starting, BK chip, forced eliminations, etc?

So many unanswered questions and yet what a turn out!

Good luck to all the BJT.com members going!

    Still only 40 seats...

Fgk only the satellite events have been increased (from what I am reading on the posts). The number of seats for the actual show will stay at 40, so the EV will still be $25,000 per seat. The added players from any of the qualifiers will just reduce the number of invited players.

I had a few players ask how the value is $25,000 per seat? The total prize pool is $1,000,000 divided by 40 players = $25,000 per seat. However each player is only guaranteed $1,000 for being on the show, but with the chance to win up to $25,000 at each of their first 2 tables and $500,000 for the finals, *Note: these prizes are for the show.

Now as far as the format and rules to be used in these qualifiers I am sure they will be the regular WSOB rules:

    1) Starting bankroll of $100,000.
    2) $1,000 minimum up to $50,000 maximum bets.
    3) Surrender.
    4) Up to 3 splits (including Aces).
    5) DD after splits.
    6) 1 "Power Chip"
    7) Number of hands (likey to be around 30)

*Note: I am not sure about the use of the knockout cards in these qualifiers, I haven't hear if they will use them or not, the Hilton wasn't sure as of yesterday anyway.

    I'm still confused TX.

In the original announcement they claimed to have 6 seats left - 4 for the 2,500 satellite and 2 for the 1,000 satellite.

If they increase the players in the 2,500 satellite from 24 to 72 in order to keep the ratio the same that means the number of seats will go from 4 to 12. That's an extra 8 entries to the WSOB

As far as the format is concerned what is the "power chip" and how is it used?

If you can split Aces three times can you hit after the split or DD?

You had Better Pay if You Want to PLAY!!

When I signed-up personally yesterday, I received a copy of the Rules for the Satellites, and there are some variations from the "Regular WSOB Rules". I have the Rules in front of me as I type this Post, and some of the differences follow:

    1. $10,000 in chips

    2. $100 minimum and $5,000 maximum

    3. 24 hands

    4. NO Knockout Cards

These are the main differences that I can see at present.

Finally. If you want to have a shot at the "Big Show", my recommendation would be for anyone interested, to PAY for the Satellites, because the way things are going with the high volume of sign-ups, there probably won't be any "Invited Players" other than perhaps past Champions, etc. Obviously, I'm not the one who will be making the decision regarding "Invited Guests", but if it were me running the Satellites, I'd have as many participants as the Market allows, bringing the total number of Players , including those who qualified from the "Qualifiers" from around the country to the "40" Players needed. From a business standpoint it just makes better sense. This is a big chunk of change being generated for GSN from these Satellites, and in my very humble opinion, a very smart business move. This could end up becoming the way they qualify players from now on in future WSOB Tournaments. Think they have a winner here, business wise...

Bottom line, in my opinion, is that if YOU WANT TO PLAY, YOU HAD BETTER PAY, and very soon for that matter! Like YESTERDAY!!!

Good luck all, and can't wait to start "Talking to the Cards" while competing with you in less than 2 weeks...

No! Aces maybe re-split, but may not be hit with more than one card after spliting.

Thanks Skipper, it looks like they just cut the qualifiers starting bank roll and betting limits by 10 times that of the actual WSOB show limits.

Twenty-four hands is good, (I'd prefer 30, but). As far as the knockout cards I am glad you let us know, I never could find out from anyone at the Hilton about them.

I did hear that they were using the "Power Chips"!

Good Luck to all that play in these qualifiers.

I haven't heard, but I would assume that the games will use 6 decks. All Hilton and WSOB tournaments so far have been 6 deck games.
