The Las Vegas Hilton has once again stuck it to the player. A recent winner of one of their blackjack tournaments received 100,000 for his tournament win. The prize money was awarded with promotional chips that stayed up until the bet lost. This actually brings the value of the chips to just short of 100% value. He was also supplied with a letter from the Las Vegas Hilton to show the casino suits that the chips were to remain up until the bet was lost. Just a few days ago the winner of the tournament went into the Las Vegas Hilton to play some of his chips and he was informed that the chips would be taken down after the bet was made win or lose which in effect reduces the value of the chips from approx.100,000 to less than 50,000. When he showed the letter to the casino manager,he was told that that letter expired even though there was no expiration date on the letter. He has filed a complaint with the Gaming Board and is considering legal action. Its just amazes me what they do and how they treat tournament players at the Las Vegas Hilton. And now they want us to support the new Million Dollar Tournament. GO FIGURE Joep
Hilton Million: I'm not sure anyone is promoting that tourney, other than the Hilton. And even without JOEP's promo chip story, one, just on the face of it has to be skeptical of their Million tourney. $2,500 for a monthly $20,000 top prize and a spot in the Mill? Number players in monthly, number of players in fight for the mill, yeah, go ahead and make that resonable somehow. A $2,500 flop down for a UBT circuit event, if one is going to flop $2,500, without all the stiff calulations is a better "deal." Just for reminders: The original Hilton Mill took the top 18 finishers each month to the "Final Session" for the MILL. For $1,000 entry one could win the $20,000 monthly and get into the final session. Or for the $1,000 and finishing in the top 18, get to the MILL. And as opposed to the NEW one, the old one paid the top 18 sumpin. So a number quandry of sorts. Do you pay more to play against fewer, or pay less to play against more. In any case the entry is $1,500 more for the same top prize.
I just happened to be there the other day while he was waiting to talk to the casino manager. That was quite a switcharoo on the value of the chips. The result is worth a few tens of thousands of dollars. I guess we'll have to see where it goes from here.
Original Hilton Million If I remember right, and I think I do, if you made it to the monthly top 18, you also got your orignal entry money back and moved on to a seat at the once a year final.
