the monthly tournament at Paradise Casinos in Yuma has been lowered to a $3,000 prize pool for June - supposedly that is a one month change - then it will go back up - to $5,000 - I was also told by a staff person there - that they will be doing a $10,000 BJ Tournament in August - they did not know if that was a one time change or not - also - tournament start time has been changed to 6:00 pm Arizona time - this is same as California time right now - as AZ does not have daylight savings time - Staff person at casino said they were lowering the payoff because they have lost money on the last couple of tournaments - they make money on the tournaments in the winter - enough to make up for what they are losing now - and that doesn't make a lot of sense to lower it for one month - then boost up the prize pool in August - when there are no snowbirds - so - but for June - an unannounced decrease in prize pool to $3,000 - the casino's web site still says $5,000 - but this is wrong - guess indian casinos don't have to follow truth in advertising - if they are lowering the prize pools because they are losing money - then I would not be surprized to see July/August/and September prize pools lowered at last minute too
