Saturdays thru end of Jan (so far.) Accumulation. Registration 10am-noon. $20 buy in. Unlimited $20 rebuys as time allows until 5pm final round. 7 hands per round. Top money finishers to final table. BJ pays 2-1. Pay out dependent on entries. After $500 in prize pool each additional $20 entry split $10 to prize pool $5 to house. $5 to dealers.
Event added here: https://www.blackjacktournaments.com/tournaments/saturday-blackjack-tournament.2608/ But seriously, what a load of crap... After the first 25 entries, the house starts keeping 25% of the additional entry fees, and gives the dealers another 25%, contributing only 50% of each additional entry to the prizes. If you are in the casino for any reason, go give 'em a piece of your mind.
Depending on weather I'll check it out today Off hand seems like a 5 hour marathon to achieve $1,700 in 7 hands to qualify for finals. And crap is what you get from Boyd's. But then I'd expect more of that from HaHa Harrahs (oh no. Now it's Ceasars!) Games at Indians aren't much better. All the entities seem to think people will just come in and lay their money down. Oh! They do!
OK. Ken pegged the lack of value in this event. But as a follow up. It seems it's a carnival game intended to catch the poker players eliminated during the noon poker tourney. One can sign up anytime before the 5pm finals as long as there are enough others and there is time for a 7 hand round before the finals at 5. The "pit" is located just outside the poker room. The tourney director is prohibited from announcing the tourney over the house "intercom." Whoever stumbles upon it is inclined for $20 to give it a go. "director" said its something at all Boyd's prop. and I noticed Orleans in Vegas had a Sat./ and Sun. event which with bad timing I never got in. "Director also said he was in Tunica recently and Sam's had similar. Additional pitfall. It's winner take all. Though final round is 21 hands. $1,000 seems a good cut off to qualify which I did. With only 25 players the $20 to win $500.00 isn't bad but they average 50 players and the ev tumbles after that. Sooooooo. Lengthy post on not a good value....but it's out there. Maybe they'll be inclined to run something better depending on their mood.
