    Very good point

Then if they could draw in a lot more players it might come a time it isnt worth it to play the satellite. 30 players is a good pool to challenge but what about 75? One player of 75 wins? Maybe they would pay more places with cash then? I know at Golden Palace the satellite games were duds. Maybe it just doesnt work for a game that isnt that popular.

I agree with you about promoting it better. Heck Bet21.com could learn from Bet21.com. During the Freerolls have pop-ups advertising the $5 + $.50 satellites for a chance to win an entry into the $25,0000 tourney. I HATE those pop ups - BUT they're effective.

Hey B, you're a business man too remember? You gotta make $ to make it work.

1 winner takes all out of 30 is BETTER odds than 6 out of 1,200!

Promotion is the key. People won't play what people don't know!

FG, maybe you should notice we arent on the business side we are customers. It should be our goal to get 30 players and keep it there not run it into a cash cow for the business we are paying. Once they get the total to 75 players it will be like throwing 5 dollar bills in the air which in the end will be added to our 200$+ entry fee to the big game. For most people playing the satellites will actually make the big game cost more. I still for the life of me cant see why you will play 100$ games against the sponsored players all day long then even worry about a 5$ game that gives you a slight chance of winning 200$ entry. But, each to their own.

    I think

they put in another entry for every 25 players. That is necessary and good for the investors.

    Ok, here's why?

    1. The more qualifiers for the BIG $25,000 the less likelyhood it will be cancelled.
    2. If the EV is there, sure I'll pay the full fee for the $25,000 game but if I only have to pay $5, can play a game I enjoy and save $ why not?
    3. Get 75 players for a tourney! What world are you living in! (Times are PST)
    The 5:00 ($20 - only attracts 30-40 players for a guarenteed $1000)
    The 7:00 ($50 - only attracts 35-50 players for a guarenteed $2500)
The 10:00 ($50 - sometimes gets cancelled due to LACK of 30 players)
The 3:00 ($5 - no guarentee rarely goes off)

The only time you get more than 50 players is for a freeroll. Hey how about having freeroll winners get an entry to the $25,000 tourney?

And yes B, I am a player and not on the business end of the stick but in any negotiation unless both sides feel like they won something people feel shafted. Lets face it, if a business can't turn a profit why be in business?

Hey I want trees for my yard and you sell trees. Why don't you just give me a couple and I'll tell everyone how nice they are ok? How long could you do that and still pay your workers, put food on your table and keep Ona dressed so nice?

    Oh baby

Yes I did have ups and downs yesterday as I played maybe 6 games. I did make final table in a multi event that had just under 50 players and came in 4th. Of course that paid fine as the payout went down to sixth. Not easy Im sure you will agree to make it that far finish in 4th. Now lets think Satellite. The satellite had about the same number of players. 1 seat was to be given. That means you need to come in first. If you were to enter every satellite and never take top spot it would add almost 3:1 your entry fee to the big game. If you played every satellite in Jan. and didnt get a 1st place your entry fee would charge up to near $500. Now the next problem. For every 215$ of input money they add another prize. Thats 43 more players almost 1.5 times the required 30. Using the raw numbers your chances are less 30 then 43 is 13 more. I wish someone would convince me this is such a great avenue to the big game.

    Barney,

Congrats of the 4th place finish in the 5.00 6 pm EST tourney. Placing 4 out of 47 people is good. Lets do some numbers shall we?

In the tourney you played it payed to the top 6 places so you had a 1/47 chance of getting "something" = 12.76% of cashing

In the 8:30 pm EST satellite tourney lets assume 30 people (because the 10:30 had to be cancelled due to lack of participation) 1/30 = 3.3% chance of WINNING but lets look further shall we?

To win the 6 pm $5 tourney you had a 1/47 = 2.1% It paid 82.25. So on a 5.50 entry that is a net profit of 76.75 or 1,495% PRETTY GOOD.

The 6th place in that same tourney had a 1/47 = 2.1% and it paid 11.75. So that net profit was 6.25 or a 214% profit - still ok

You had a 22.70 net profit or a 413% return on your money. Not bad and much better return than Bank of America

Now with the 5.50 satellite you win a seat valued at 215.00. So if you win that your net profit = 209.50 or a return on money = 3,909%

    So value = for a $5.50 6 pm winning (2.1%) gets 1,495% versus the
    $5.50 8:30 satellite (winning 3.3%) getting 3,909%.

Hmmmmmm you don't see the value? I hope you don't do your own taxes!

As an aside if you enjoy playing EBJ and don't like "ploppie tourney's" i.e., freerolls, the experience alone is worth it.

You're right B, I WILL plunk down the full fee $200 for the $25,000 tourney (assuming I don't win a satellite) because I SEE the EV. What I would like is to make sure that there are enough people to make the $25,000 get off the ground and not cancelled due to lack of participants (like Get21.com)

For every satellite that goes off it assures one more person will be present for the $25,000 event. I guess you're right, as a "high roller  " I shouldn't care. I should just play the $50 SNG and not bother with the "small change" right? Wrong. I want as many people as possible to take advantage of this positive EV event.

I like EBJ - so I support it and encourage others.
You like TBJ - so you plug BJ21.com and encourage others right?

To each his own. I don't Bash/Trash your favorite (trust me I could unleash a barrage against them) but I want them to succeed. I just don't get your continued railing against what now presents the best opportunity to play online TBJ right now!

But when you do the numbers - see above, the $5.50 satellites for the $25,000 have the best EV of all the Bet21.com games! If I'm wrong prove it with numbers and not opinions.

Finally, congratulations of the final table yesterday. Hope to see you there again today.

    I can assure you

If blackjack21 dot com doesnt offer a good value, the way I see it, for the cruise promo I will be the first to say so. It is my opinion these boards are not to hype or coddle these BJT sites, it is to ask questions which will indirectly or directly help the sites or give an alternate view to the investees opinions.

Simple, here is the problem with satellite events at any site.

It increase your investment to the big game.

Lets say we consider the month of January only where there will be about 50 satellites.

    $5.50(50)= $275 invested potential

Simply, if you dont win a 1st place, which you must admit is very possible, you have done this.

    $215+$275=$490

So I have a choice, I can take the sure buy for the big game at $215 or I can risk buying for $490

Again, it all depends on if you can squeak out first place in one of the 50 events. Its just not as simple as taking 215 and dividing it by 5.50. Each game you play adds 5.50 to the starting figure of 215.

If I see a game at the clock that needs another player I would be the first to jump in to lend a helping hand and of course I need practice so I will likely play from time to time. I do believe the best investment is to buy directly into the game. BTW, If the $100 game fills to almost 50 like it did last night I can say with certainty this $25K game will go off. Heck, maybe even Phil Helmuth and Kenny will play. :)

    $25,000 Satellite

Well, Bet21/UB have changed the times of their satellites for the January 27, 2007 tourney.

    Twice daily:

    1. 8:30 EST
    2. 9:30 EST

NOW you can still play your freerolls AND have your shot at a seat to play for $25,000!

Thanks Bet21/UB for making the change. Now to the BJ community - step up to the plate!

Thanks for the up date fgk

Hopefully my time suggestion's helped them make the changes. Now lets just get the minimum 30 players there so we can play...LOL

    Don't Miss this

    Well, Tomorrow is THE NIGHT!

Since I've been playing online TBJ tomorrow night will be a FIRST

    25,000 prize pool

    1st place 8,420
    2nd place 5,868
    3rd place 4,012
    4th place 3,084
    5th place 2,156
    6th place 1,460

This is a guarenteed payout. There are enough players already registered via satellites. For anyone else, including myself, a 200+15 entry gets you a seat.

There are currently 65 players (with 1 more to be added via the 9:30 satellite). S with myself there will be a MINIMUM OF 67!

Since that adds up to 13,400 in fees and Bet21.com is awarding 25,000 I would say that there is only one online site with +EV.

Barney there's a spot with your name on it there ;)

There are already BIG NAMES registered:

    Team UBT Members:
    Phil Hellmuth
    Ken "Legend" Einiger
    Robert Williamson
    Freddy Deeb
    Monica Reeves
    Holywood Dave
    Adriana Jade
    Anthony Curtis
    Devilfish
    Russ Hamilton
    Annie Duke

Even if you don't play come and watch some of the best!
