GSN WSOB and Ho Chunk casino

I just received the following statement according to GSN:

"Nothing has changed and Ho Chunk casino still has 3 seats and will be sending 3 people to the World series but its up to the casino how they want to sleect people."

    MMMMMmmmmm?

Sounds like the circumstances maybe WERE within their control and that they just wanted to keep 3 of their high rollers happy and screw all of the other players.

I'm not saying that is what happened, but Ho Chuck is not making themselves look to good the way they have handled this WSOB situation so far.

It will be interesting to see who if anybody plays in the WSOB from Ho Chuck.

I was also told that GSN is getting a late rush from casinos wanting to purchase seats for the WSOB. They will be for casino VIP's only from my understanding and not for the general public. This will limit the number of selected players by GSN for this years show.

I was told GSN has VERY few spots left.

WSOB 2005: GSN picks the players.
WSOB 2006: Casinos pick the players.
Not much difference for the average guy.
    WSOB 2007: ?

Wish I were a high roller

I got told right to my face that they no longer had the seats. The high roller theory makes sense. To add insult to injury they comped a corner suite out from under us a few weeks ago (at least that's my theory on why our suite wasn't available two hours after we called and confirmed our reservation on a Friday night.) :flame:

    Customer relations

A while ago (maybe a couple of years) Ho-Chunk got caught removing Aces from blackjack shoes. They were penalized by having to remove all table games except BJ. Now this fiasco.

Looks like they are not very friendly to their bread and butter patrons. I guess they can get away with these shenanigans since they are a casino with no competition within reasonable driving distance.

The free enterprise system does not seem to apply to local casinos because of limited or non existent competition.

To all APs - take 'em for all you can - they deserve no mercy. To all members - just be careful out there.

Personally, I'd like to see the MIT team descend on them. I'd pay an admission fee to watch.:flame:

It's not nice to fool the toolman!

    Limited high stakes

Unfortunately, they only have limited high states tables. My comments were made out of frustration and I don't think an AP playing for large stakes would last long. I hate playing there. Don't like the dealers, don't like the atmosphere. I only play to try to win my entry fee (and gas money) for their tournaments. As you and others on this site may know, my attitude is to give action to the casino hosting a tournament, but I have to draw an exception here. I play their tournaments because of the equity and, I must say, they are well run.

I've played for quarters with a 1-4 spread and was watched like a hawk. Primarily they cater to the locals who know little or nothing about basic strategy. They love taking in those nickles and dimes. There is never any line at the cashiers cage. Someone else on this site may be able to answer your question better than me but here is the little I know.

As far as live BJ, mostly nickle and dime shoe games with poor penetration. $5 games have a limit of $50. $10 games have a limit of $100. If you bet near the limit at the nickle and dime tables, a suit will be there watching your every move. I had one instance where the dealer called out "green action" at a $5 table. They have a few $25 tables that are not always open. Maybe 1 or 2 "high limit" tables. Don't know the stakes, never played.

A LV player would probably pass on this one, but I appreciate your interest. If anyone else has better info, please post.

    El Cortez, WS?

I didn't know that the El Cortez had a sister casino in WS - but then, they would call out "brown action!".

    Not Much Heat

Joep the casinos here are relatively heat-free, but I've heard of AP's getting axed for life. The main problem is that the games aren't lucrative enough to justify the expenses of travelling from another part of the country. So unless you want to add some side tourist action like a tour of Lambeau Field (which I'd recommend to anyone, cheeshead or not) I wouldn't bother. If you ever do make it up this way look me up! :D
