Good question... If I do have players that get comp-ed in for this event (River Palms) I would have to allow them points for these events since nothing has been said before now. But if I find these same players are getting comp-ed in other TBJPA events at other locations I would probably have to re-think how those players are ranked. As I posted above, I believe that isn't fair to the paying players. Of course that opens up another can of worms, if the casino is taking the entry fees, how would I know which players where comp-ed in to the events. Now being comp-ed by your local casino, when your not going to other venues to play for points for the rankings is something else to conceder as well. I am trying to be as fair as possible to all the players.
I see your side and agree, but... I also look at the players who don't have the chances to play and as many events because they are having to pay for all their entry fees and travel expense as well. For play in the events I have no problem at all with comp-ed players, it is just the rankings I am affaird my be tarnished by to many comps, it could lead to an unfair advantage, (not that it will, only that it could for the rankings). My concern is the TBJPA is ranking the players in the TBT events so I want to make damn sure all the players have the same chance (or as close as possible) for becoming "The Player of the Year". Now I do have a restriction that a players must play in a minimum of three TBT events to help them qualify for the end of the year leader. This is one of the reasons I am hosting two TBT events in a row at all the future TBJPA events. This will help cut down on travel expense for the tournament players to get their three TBT events under their belts in only two trips. Again, just my opinion, I'll go with the flow on this one.
if they pay their money - or someone pays it for them (no diff) and they earn the points through play - they should get the points --- period -- should not even be a debate
Yes they should receive points if their full entry is paid by them or comped by the host casino but only if the $40 event fee is also paid, if that is waived then they are not entitled to association points in my opinion.
agreed they need to cover the TBJPA fee - that should be part of the comped buy-in - as it is required for all players - right?
Hold up I'm Confused (For a change) Rick do the River Palm's Comped players have to pay the $40 Event fee like the rest of us have to or are you saying this is completely waived for them, Also your $10k event if only 8 entrys it is looking more attractive to me, My only worry is When i recently made final table at Venetian, I got charged 30% Tax On my winnings, which hopefully i will get back in about a year, My worry entering a small event like this with 8 entrys that by the time I take off travelling expenses from the UK, Etc and the entry fee, if 30% gets taken of winning I would probably need to come 1st to break even, I am coming out to Vegas for 3 weeks so in this case is not so bad anyway, In the UK we do not get taxed on casino winnings or Tournamnts I'm glad to say, Just everything else!
Mace, you're really asking if the 10K event is going to exist as far as the Internal Revenue Service will be aware. That's a discussion that should be held in PM's or emails.
Understood, Nudge Nudge wink wink so no more as Monty Python would say, Sorry for my naivity when it comes to Tax in U.S. Am i right in thinking that Barona is exempt though as is on Indian Reservation land?
