    European Tourney:

Well, I gotta say, if it ain't too late,GO GO GO a member of BJT.

Probably as difficult as it is for an over the sea person to get to US for a tourney, the same applies conversely. But if one associated with this site kicks A**, then we all win.

Sirklas: You well traveled, seasoned player, interesting that you quote Kant over the heralded list of (german)greats. Was it just for the quote, or an
affinity for the whole schliemel, schlamaagl?

    Goethe = Kant

    @ norman:

Were you tired, reading my comments? I didn`t qoute Kant, it was Gothe ;-)
Or did i miss something? Well, try to keep you up to date how things or going on in Linz. May plane i going in an hour and I am writing now from the airport. The tournament will start I guess tomorrow at 2 pm EST, that will be 8 pm european time.

Keep your fingers crossed for the BJT-Fraction there. If it would be allowed to wear polo shirts and cappies, I would wear my BJT-dress. But it`s forbidden. In Europe you have to dress very fine in casinos with suits and ties and all the things.

Ok, by for now from the german airport Hanover.

P.S.: I read some of that philosophy stuff, had an "A" Grade in that subject in school... ;)

    BJT were very unlucky!

    Hi all,

am I sorry, but all the BJT-Forum players made nothing in Linz :(

Sunshine was out in round 1 and didn`t took the rebuy round, because she had a bad feeling yesterday. selecticom also was out in round 1, took the rebuy round, but was out after losing 3 max. bets in the row.

Me, I was BR 3 in the middle in first round. Although BR 1 and BR 2 were leading with 12 and 15. They were continuing to bet high (5-7 max bet 10; min bet 1). I tried some a few rouns with min bets to get a swing. But the wan nearly all their bets. From round 17 on I had no chance without max. betting. But I couldn`t catch this lucky bastards. In the end there was one with a BR over 90 on with 85. I was down at 29. The starting BR was 30 (52 with chip rebuys).

I also took the rebuy round. We had 6 people sitting on our table. One started with a max. bet in the first round: another one with 6. It was nice sseing this people start to bet with max. bets at the beginning with a starting BR from 30 and no chip rebuy avialable. 2 from that table were advancing. so I though 2-3 would bust out themselves in the beginning or latest in the middle of the 21 rounds. So it came. We were down to 3 players in round 14. Me, Bernd from Germany (some know from the cruise) and another young player. The other one was BR 1me, BR 2 and Bernd BR 3. One must go. So Bernd attacked with a mex bet an round 16 and catched a natural

The new BR 2 had a 7 chips lead over me and continued with medium bets. All my tries to catch up lost

I had a DD on 8-2, catched a 3 dealer hat a 3 showing and made 17. Another time while max. betting I made 21 and had a push with noe real swing to BR 1+2.

    Very unlucky!

    bye, sirklas

    Bad luck!

I'm sorry that the German wing of BJT.com didn't make a bigger impact in this tourney :( . Oh well, there's always next time :) !

What was the level of play like? The way you described it it sounds like a TEC point S&G at playUBT.com :D. Sounds like the dealer was busting out a lot; don't you just hate it when that happens? And of course when you play a cash game they never bust...

    Cheers

Well, I'm not sure if there really is a next time for Sunshine and me. The tournament yesterday was another very frustrating event. Seeing people making bad plays left and right of you and winning 3 or 4 maxbet-blackjacks in 21 hands is quite annoying... and that's what happens every time.

Bad as always. But that doesn't help if you have to catch up and lose 4 or 5 max bets in a row :(

At least I got my entry plus interest back later in the evening. There were two Hold'em S&Gs going, one with €25 buy in and one with €50. I didn't cash in either of them, but found out that there were some really bad players in the house. Later we played Limit €10/20 - a thing I normally wouldn't even consider, because I'm more of a no limit player and 10/20 is way too high for me. Later, we changed to pot limit with one €5 blind and I really felt at home. A €550 win finally made the journey worthwhile.

    Quit? NO WAY

Don't ever think this way. Bad luck happens and it happens to everyone on this site. It's part of the game. If your strategy is mathematically sound, just keep at it - don't ever quit. As we say in the US, if you fall off a horse, just climb back on and try again. ;)

Boy I sure know how you feel...I hate when luck beats me....

Even more ...I hate when the absent guy has a better game going than I do...

These dry spells are tough...especially when you have invested so much time and money..

    Luck, luck, luck

Rando, then you have to stop playing BJ tournaments, because there is soo much luck involved. I guess 70-90 luck, depending on the tournaments format. You are really lucky, when you make it one time, have a big win and that was it. You can`t beat the luck in this game, although you are playing perfectly. That is worse, but we have to see that point realistic!

Let not get this started again...LOL

Last time I made a comment about needing luck to win a tournament it got spun so out of control, lets not even go there...lol

I agree Sirklas that the different formats contribute to the size of the luck factor.

This isn't a sales pitch for the TBT, but it may sound like one...lol

The reason I am trying to start up the TBT is to offer tournament BJ players an open venue where more strategy is required and less of the luck factor.

Below are some of the TBJPA format and worldwide rules I am trying to get started. Maybe you'll see way I think the TBT will be the best BJ tour around (once we get started, hopefully you'll agree).

    1. Minimum 2 players advance from every table (it may add an extra round, but I believe it is worth it). In most every tournament your going to have a player that catches all the cards, with two advancing you can still use strategy vs. having to chase just BR1.

    2. No more than 6 players at any table.

    3. 3 to 2 BJ

    4. Ace's only split once

    5. 3 splits only

    6. DD any first two cards, and after splits

    7. Deal and bets rotate after every hand

    8. All DD card dealt up (eliminates any mis-deals)

    9. $500 starting bankroll, $5 min. bet, $200 max. bet per hand. Eliminates those last hands all in BJ comebacks.

    10. Surrender offered

    11. 36 hands played per round (in most locations anyway). The more hands played are always an advantage for a seasoned player over luck.

    12. No early elimination hands, you get to play until the end (unless you bust out early). To many times players start out slow, but rally to come back to win or at least advance to the next round.

    13. Players count cards will be posted on the table for all to see. With five hands remaining, all players still remaining on each table will have their chips counted and posted on the card and posted on the table (old New Frontier tournament style).

    14. Chips must stay on the table in plan view and stacked by color (value), but no limit to how many chips maybe stacked. Chip count is part of the game and should be included in any tournament.

    15. Prize pool paid out to the top 18 players for the monthly events and top 36 for the championship event. I believe more players should cash in these events (similar to poker) the more players who cash out means they can afford to play in more of our events.

    16. The TBT will try it's best to schedule it's tournaments along with other tournaments so when traveling, players will have the opportunity to play in more than the one event.

    17. Whenever a host property allows the TBT will host satellites tournaments for chances to win a cheaper entry into the main event.

    18. With the TBJPA ranking system it will work on the percentage how you advance in the events you play in. Only 3 events will be required to qualify any player for one of the top three ends of the year prizes. I believe this will be the fairest way to judge who the top players are. An accumulation of points is more who can play in the most tournaments not who is the better players.

Now there were some questions about some of the fees involved with the TBT. Let me explain why they are there.

The $30 casino fee is "Good Faith" money to the casino so that they will allow us a chance to show them that we do have players who are willing to come play in BJ tournaments if given the chance. If they open these tournaments for all and allow us the use of they casino for these events, I think that is more that fair to cover their expenses. Plus this fee is just for the first year; if we show them we have the following to come play in these events there won't be a fee the 2nd season of TBT. Hell if we have a good showing they may even add the fee back into the prize pool (I am not guaranteeing anything, but it would just be good business).

Now for the TBJPA $40 fee, first off this is a business, my business and a fee must be charged to cover expenses. Now I will not EVER be playing in a TBT event, it just doesn't look good playing in any tournament that you are involved in, (no win situation).

    Also remember two things:

    1) The $40 fee is only changed for the months you play in a TBT tournament.

    2) For each $40 fee you pay in you'll get a $50 discount off the championship entry fee. So for each fee you pay in, you'll be making $10 at the end of the season.

I can't think of a fairer way to handle the necessary fees needed to operate the TBJPA and get the casinos to host the TBT events. If anyone has any other helpful suggestion, please let me know. I am always open for suggestions on improving and making the TBJPA and TBT better.
