Shall We Meet Again? While I was at "The Soo", quite a few folks asked me about the Fallsview Blackjack 21 Tournament in Niagara Falls, Ontario. In case any of you are subscribed to this thread, I thought I would mention that the next one is coming up soon (July 11). If you're coming, we can discuss it on this thread, where there is also a link to the calendar entry: http://www.blackjacktournaments.com/bb/showthread.php?p=46476#post46476
Too far I've thought about this tourney venue for several years now but it's almost distance prohibitive for me (driving) and midweek scheduling is a big negative too, at this point in my life. Billy C
I feel your pain. There a couple of events that I've played in that require a drive of 10 hours or more. Some of them are not profitable on paper because of this, but at this point, I love playing so much that I'm willing to make the trip.
Opened today DeAnn started taking entries today for the August 10-12 event at St. Ignace. I was quite possibly entry number one. Billy C
Oops Unfortunately Sunstar and I are not going to make this one. My vacation balance at work is tapped out.
Best of good cards and great skill to all the BJT-ers who are duking it out at St. Ignace this weekend!
Thanks for the well wishes, Lefty. The first round went according to plan for many of us. There were quite a few people associated with this site (either members or folks who came with members) who made it through to the quarter finals, either on their first try, or in the rebuy. I think I counted at least 8. That's where my report has to end, however, as all that was left of my quarter-final seat after about the 20th hand was a giant mushroom cloud and a smoking hole in the ground. Evidence of the manner in which I exited the round. I estimate that I lost 15 of the 20 hands as I fell a max bet behind the leaders at a table where everyone was betting $100 or less. The final insult was losing the final 3 in a row as I attempted to get back in the game. So, good cards? Unfortunately not. Great skill? That's always debatable Jonny21 was in good shape at my table when I made my exit. Billy C and MrPill also looked to be in decent position. I said my goodbyes and began the drive-of-shame at that point. Anyone else have more to report?
I was knocked out by bad cards and Billy C in the semi finals for my shot at the final table. I believe he came in 5th place on the final table. Billy gave it a great shot but as usual the cards were not with him. It was nice playing against you Billy maybe next time we can both have better cards and given them a run for thier money. On a side like congrats Billy on the Royal you hit upon arrival. Its about time someone hit one there.
Last Hands (again) Congrads to Billy on 5th. Great to see, play with and enjoy a meal with those of you that made it this time. Had a chance to advance to the third round but was once again foiled with the cards. Tried to get into BR1 for the count (31/42, count at 35) and lost a 125 bet. Before the bet I was BR3 by $75. Tried to catch back up and just could not catch a hand. By hand 42 I needed to get three bets on the table for BR2 with two advance. I think the dealer had a 4 up and I split 10's with a $500 bet out (max). Caugh an ace and decided to double and caught a 5. Was then dealt a hard 19 on hand two. Dealer ended up making her hand and I only won two bets and fell $90 short of BR2. Hope to see all at the SOO next month. -Pill
Well Done! Congratulations Billy on making the final table! Congrats also to angelrun5. Making the semi final in this tournament is a difficult task due to the higher than average calibre of compteition.
Congratulations Billy ! And congrats to Dave from Wisconsin for his second place finish. Good times with some nice people, and the crab legs were great !
Call Back for The Soo Got confirmed for the Soo Tourney (9/28-9/29) yesterday. Have 6 of us coming up next month for it. -Pill
Both----------------the field is tougher when you're in it. I do mean that, but the thank you was actually for the good wishes you offered for the rest of us. Hope to see you before long at some upcoming event. Billy C
