Ha-Ha. You got me. I do like rounds where more than one advance, and you can use some of those strategies that Ken and Wong talk about, to put yourself in the needed spot, without having to win the table.
DeAnn started taking entries for June tournament yesterday. I figured I'd be the first by calling midday yesterday and she said there were a few before me. Don't wait too long if you plan to play because they seem to cap their events at 100 people (or slightly over) now. Billy C
I am in ! Taking a week's vacation to see my UP family and hit the trout streams, then off to St. Ignace for the weekend.
In too! No Mrs. Pill this time though (as of today anyway). Looking forward to another great event and meeting p with all. -Pill
It's almost here. My wife and I will be arriving in time for the welcome dinner on Friday evening. I'm looking forward to reconnecting with Billy, Jonny and Mr Pill, who have indicated that they will be there. I'm not sure if I've met double down d before, but always interested in meeting new people from the site. Anyone else coming? My wife also wants to know if other wives/partners will be coming.
St. Ignace never does a welcome dinner but instead gives you more food coupons for use at any food venue. I'll be solo but many others bring their wives/girlfriends. See you soon! Billy C
I won't be able to make it to this one but I do wish the very best of good cards and great skill to my BJT.com friends who will be there!
Kewadin Results - June 8 tournament - Our members were well represented ! Gronbog took second and I took sixth place in the finals. First went to a lady who must have won 35 of the 42 hands. Billy C, Double Down D, Angel Run and Mr. Pill all advanced past the first round (Apologies if I missed anyone). There were a total of 83 entrants. The tournament was well run by Dee Ann, Paula, Ernie and staff. Rumor is that there will be three dates in St Ignace next year and just one in the Soo. There was a delay before the final table was played. One player from the semifinals had qualified with the second highest non-winning chip count, but didn't realize it, and had left. The tournament staff called him on his cell phone and got hold of him as he was crossing the Mackinac Bridge. He hurried back, and took fourth place, I believe.
Yes, Jonny is on a bit of a roll at Kewadin. Leftnut's good wishes came true for me as there was more than a little luck involved in getting me to the final. I had a chance on the final hand to win it all which is all one can hope for. An interesting situation came up in the final hand of my semi final round. I'll post about it later.
Jonny outlined a situation that was caused by the single biggest boo-boo that the otherwise stellar Kewadin BJT management makes, and they just won't listen to reason. By doing so, they shoot themselves in the foot at every tournament. It's insane for them to take the final table "wild cards" from the highest losing semi-final chip counts. All they're doing is insuring that most of the tournament players skedaddle out the door like their butts were on fire as soon as they are terminally eliminated. I've even seen some bail out on Saturday night! All that effort and trouble to get 'em in the door and then give them no reason to stay once they've been eliminated. It boggles my mind that they don't do a true wild-card draw from all player's names before that final table. And to top it off, in this particular event, they actually held up the final table waiting for a player who had obviously zoomed out of the building immediately after losing his semi-final table and was already on his way home??? WOW.
