That's possible. Also be aware that Bonus Dollars are a different beast than Cash for Ultimate Points, even though both are based on your Raise status and Ultimate Points accumulation. The posts which started this thread were referring to the former.

I for one am hoping that things have changed as folks are reporting, but I have yet to see any money and have not received any encouraging responses to my queries.

You should read somewhere :

Bonus Dollars: $XX
Ultimate Points required to release $5: YY

YY should decrease each time you play and when it reaches zero, $5 will be subtracted from XX and added to your available balance. YY should decrease by 1 for every 30 cents of fee you pay (fee, not buy-in). So if you play a sit and go $10+$1, the tournament fee is $1 so YY should be reduced by 3.33 rounded. If you reach another status level, YY should decrease quicker but the points required will also increase.
