Wsob From what I am told, no other casino in Oklahoma can offer a seat in the WSOB due to the Cherokee Casino sending three players to WSOB. Cherokee has locked up the oklahoma market with the contract that they signed.
OK Blackjack These OK BJ posts are the most veiwed on this site. Last night went to play the free tournament at Red River. Arrived 15 minutes late (last week 30 min) but it was full 112. Maybe a lot of people reading these posts and decided to try it.
Red River The Red River Casino has started 3 Card Poker. The money players lose at the 2 tables go into the BJ players pool. The Craps table is suppose to start in Jan. Last month Dec this month Jan. Having a problem finding people that know how to work the craps table. The Tuesday free BJ tournaments are still going strong and very friendly. Get there before 6pm sign up to get in line (112 play). People playing at tables get to sign up first. They do have an alternate list for the ones who don't show.
tulsa has anybody been to the tournyments in tulsa and is anybody going in january? How far is it from the airport in tulsa and do they have shuttle:laugh:
OK Blackjack The next quarterly tournament at Comanche Nation is scheduled for Jan 8. Sign up is now till Dec 31. Players pool as of Dec 19 was $98000. Remember this is the start of the qualifier for the $1mil in Dec 06.
I drove Maxwell I drove so I can't help you with the distance to the casino from the airport. Just call Cherokee's 800 number and they should be able to help you.
OK Blackjack The free Tuesday BJ tournament at Red River has been canceled. Comanche Nation still has theirs.
OK Blackjack The Red River quarterly tournament is scheluded for Jan 22-23. Played the C.N. tournament today. Keep making past the first round, but that second round I just can't get anything. Wife was too sick to play. There are some people that never played a tournament and hardly know how to play that just keep winning. That's the allure of tournaments. Big money get lucky.
OK Blackjack Well, the same person won the CN tournament again for the third time in a row. He is the only person to max out his points 400. 400 hrs. The closest to him was 258. He maxs his points each time. Money and plenty of time on his hands. Many people were complaining to each other and out loud. 169 entered him with his 400, next guy down 258, less than 30 just over 100, rest 1-99. This 400 max has got to change. He is the only person who maxs everytime no one else even passes 300. He starts his first round with people under 100. The second round some have made it to 300 but they are put on other tables. The people on his table are over 200 below him. I liked sitting there listening to all these people talking, because the more people that complain maybe something will be changed. Maybe a 200 max. I know ideally everybody starts out even, but that ain't going to happen. People play to enter not pay to enter. We'll see.
OK BJ -the wild wild west > People play to enter not pay to enter. Hmmm. You wonder if he didn't pay? 400 hours, 60 measley slow hands played an hour, being raked a minimum of $0.50 per hand. That's $12K out of pocket just for the antes alone to accumulate his 400 hours. Does it look like he has other skills i.e. counting/tracking/sequencing? If not, and if it is on the square, he's out way more than $12K each time. (BTW .. does the CN shuffle or use ASMs/CSMs in their day to day play?) Is that reasonable? It could be. I met a guy who won one of the big OK BJ tournaments back when you played your way in -he claimed he had $45K invested in losses and antes. Or is it more reasonable that, with all due respect, this guy's daddy or grandpa's last name might be something similiar to 'Running Bear.' Or, he could be a County Commissioner; or the Governor's nephew. He has had the 400 max each of the last three times, right? (Is that weekly or quarterly? If weekly, geeez.) He has also recieved highly preferential table treatment, right? What was the payout table on these three particular tournaments anyway? Does the payout relate to investing $12K a time in antes alone? IMO, Indian gaming in Oklahoma is about as unregulated as you'll find anywhere.
60, maybe 40! Sun Runner I've never seen any dealer deal out over 40 hands per hour and that is really flying. Even though that still is a hugh amount of money on just antes alone ($8,000) to get 400 hours in.
Actually, 60 is pretty typical, and maybe even a little on the slow side for hands per hour. At a fast table heads up, you can get in over 200 hands per hour.
OK Blackjack The prize money he has won is around 60,40, and $50000. He's not Indian, but Oriental. Yes, it is pretty obvious that he counts. They don't care if you do here. They don't have no CS machines yet. If you got a full table it's likely you playing 30 hands or less an hour.
Sue Runner: Whoa Nelly: Fire up Nellie Belle. I hope I never have to play against Sue runner in a preliminary round anywhere.
OK BJ continued BJMAILMAN: You said the CN does not use CSMs .. do they use ASMs or do they shuffle? I assume it's a 6D shoe, right? 60 hands an hour is generally a slow grind when trying to straight count and earn some EV. No doubt this Oriental dude is playing as slowly as the CN will allow; dragging his hands per hour to a minimum; betting the minimum. Of course even a straight counter can't beat this game. When will the Oklahoma ploppies learn you can't beat a 10% rake with a 1% EV? I'll bet the pawn shops and check cashing stores in OK don't earn that kind of EV. It's borderline criminal. Which brings you to the reason they could care less about counters. Those cameras in the ceiling are not watching you .. they are watching all those green backs turning into wampum. BJMAILMAN and TXtourplayer: Are these play-in quarterly tournaments the same ones you have to play to get in the year end $1MM deal? Good luck out there.
OK Blackjack Sometimes some tables are hand shuffled. Mostly machines after the six deck shoe hits the cut card. That guy, when I see him playing he's usually up a couple hundred or more. I've made $500-1000 many times and over a $1000 several. There has been several people win over $10000. $5 min $200 max. The .50 commision ain't that bad once you get used to it. If you start with a $100, 200, or whatever you lose you lose like other places. If you leave with an extra $100 that's what you have won. You don't have to say," I'd have $30 an hour more if it wasn't for that .50". Because there is always what ifs. Like, what if you bet $30 more on that winning hand and got your .50 back. For the $1mil tournament you have to qualify thru the quarterly tournaments. First thru 24th qualify for the $1mil. The rest are drawn 600 totally. Check out the Red River Casino website. Play each quarterly and you can have 6 entries. You probably have a better than 98% chance to have your name drawn. Had 169 entries this quarter at CN about average, more than half will be the same people, 260 names drawn at CN and 360 at RR. All you need is 1 credit and play in the tournament.
Thanks. BJMAILMAN -do you use basic strategy when you play, and if so, do you count? I know this is a tournament site and I don't intend to get off topic, but it seems you play some BJ in between tournaments (well, of course you do, to accumulate those hours, duh, stupid me!), and I was just curious. Thanks for all the information on RR and CN.
OK Blackjack The Red River has started a Tuesday tournament again. Except, this time it's $23. Start with 100 in chips can buy 100 more for $10. Only for 2 more Tuesdays. Just found out about it this Tuesday had 42 players. $450 first place.
OK Blackjack A couple days ago I counted how many hands were played in an hour. 36 first hour 5 players and 40 second hour 4 players.
