Hands per hour .. wow! BJMAILMAN -thanks for the info. Wow, that is a slow grind. I'll bet everybody there that is playing to accumulate hours has figured out the 'cost' of accumulating these hours and has purposefully slowed the games there to a crawl. One round to five players every minute forty five!? Crazy. People do adapt!! I might guess that it is counter productive for the casino -to run the tournament's that way I mean. If the general public there was not indirectly forced to slow down the day to day games -maybe the casino would collect even more in antes and holds. I'm sure they have figured it out; I would have! Thanks BJMM!
OK Blackjack The Red River Tuesday tournament went from 42 to 54 players this week with $500 added to the prize pool. One more try next Tuesday 1-31.
OK Blackjack $1 million Has anyone here tried to qualify for the Dec $1mil tournament ? Got my name in the pot for both places so far. The Red River tournament was pretty fair most of the low starters were put together. I only started with 6 and I was second at the table of 6.
OK BJ $1MM tournie I have become depressingly confused about how to qualify for this thing. Calling the casino is at best iffy; most who answer the phone are hazy about the particulars. You have to either win, place, or show in one of the quarterly events right? There are three more to go, right? To get into the quarterlies, do you have to go through this accumulation of hours process (400 max) we have talked about before, or is that just another seperate run of local tournaments? Thanks, BJM, for any information.
OK Blackjack $1 million For out of towners. Go to RR and/or both CN. Play for an hour or so. You just qualified to play in the next quarterly. Comeback play your 1 credit in the quarterly. You come in 1st to 24th you qualify for the $1mil tournament. The rest are put in a pot 264 names drawn at RR and 144 at CN. 600 total players. Names are suppose to be drawn in Nov. The odds of having your name drawn are pretty good. For those who like to figure odds 160-170 players per quarter 4 quarters more than half same players per quarter. They say they are going to have another $1mil next year. Seems like some of you players that were at Tulsa would of stop by on their way home (Rick). I'll keep everyboby informed.
OK Blackjack The RR has opened it craps table for Fri and Sat. All the time you play on the craps or 3 card poker counts toward the BJ tournament.
OK Craps I'll find out more when I go to play Tuesday. I know the shooter draws one card that has a dice total. All the possible combinations are represented on the cards. Don't know how many cards they use in a shoe or how often they schuffle.
OK Craps About the craps at Red River. $1 ante for every point or seven or craps. Shooter draws one card. Schuffle after every draw. Time on the craps hasn't yet but will go towards the BJ quarterlies. Only open on Friday and Saturday nights.
OK Blackjack The next quarterly at Comanche Nation is on Apr. 9. You can get some qualifying credits in till Mar 31. Red River's tournament is usually the following week. Haven't heard when sign up will start. Usually 3 weeks before tournament day and end Mon or Tues before tournament Sun.
Oklahoma BJ Thanks Mailman, I'll try to get up there for some action this time. Maybe bring Tx. along with me.
OK Blackjack Quarterly sign up at CN Mar 17-31, tournament Apr 9. RR sign up Apr 1-18, tournament Apr 23-24. Make points for either till Mar 31.
OK Blackjack The Tuesday BJ tournaments are still going on at Red River. Good way for beginners to learn tournament play and anybody else to try and win a little. Very friendly little tournament. The Dec $1 mil tournament is advertised quite a bit in the paper, mailings, and television. I think there will be many more entries in the next tournaments. There is usaully a good crowd of people playing everyday now.
OK Blackjack The Comanche Nation prize pool $133000. 246 entries. Same guy with his 400 credits, one with 307, five in the 200's, sixteen in the 100's, and the rest 1-99. Anybody here sign up? Didn't see no familiar names on the list.
OK Blackjack Still waiting to hear what the prize pool will be at RR. They have "Let It Ride" there now. Played the Tuesday tournament. 42 people, $23 entry, I made 5th for $160. Fun little tournament good for practicing your tournament skills. Why haven't some of you guys come to enter? RR prize pool is usually over $200000. And now it also gets your name in the pot for the $1mil tournament. Some of you guys will travel a 1000 miles, pay $500 to $1500 to enter a tournament for a $150000 prize pool. RR averages $200000 (don't forget the $1mil entry) and it cost you nothing but one hour of your time to enter. The starting points during the tournament (RR) aren't that bad because most of the short stacks are grouped together. I started with 6 and I was second at the table first only had 30. My wife had 17 and she was first at her table. Each of the last tournaments have had someone with 2 or 4 chips make it to the final table. What you guys just scared? My wife wants to beat the guys she has met and seen on TV. We were at the Hilton for the last finals. I'll keep you all informed. Maybe, you'll try next years $1mil.
Prize money sounds good, but... Hi BJMAILMAN, I know Swog promised the two of us would make it up there, we just haven't had the time. To tell you the truth, if the format was a little a little more "fair" to all, I think we would have made time and been up there before now. It just sounds like a brother in law type of format, (designed for their high rollers and family members to win). I have no doubt that someone with very limited number of credits makes some unbelievible run to win the tournament, but how often does that happen. I still say the fair way of handling the tournaments is charge an entry fee based on the number of hours each player puts in, but start all the players out with an equal amount of chips. Plus with the added entry fees the prize pool would HUGH! I have two questions? 1) Do they have poker at RR? 2) If yes to number one, can you get your hours in playing poker? If so that might be the way to go, come up on the weekend playing low limit poker (little risk) and get in 6 to 8 hours per day on both Saturday and Sunday. Do this over a few months could get you better shot at winning one of their quarterly events.
