It could just be random chance. On the other hand, if I were designing the software for a game like this, I would allow the operators to specify whatever average penetration they wish. The two sessions occurred on different days, so maybe someone tweaked the relevant parameter in the mean time.

The least charitable interpretation would be that the first few shoes played by a newly-registered player are given an extra boost, in order to entice them, before falling back to the normal level. Since this was all for play-money anyway, that doesn't seem very likely. But you never know.

 

I have wagered well over £200,000 on this game since January, so I know a lot about it.

I can confirm the game had worthwhile player advantage, until I played it yesterday and found they had massively reduced the penetration, making it fairly pointless. That explains the discrepancy someone noticed between two sessions.

Before the change, the game had average penetration of 50%, though it could vary between 25% and 75%. Not ideal, but it can be exploited. Now, the shuffle card appears before 1 deck has been dealt. I reckon the game is still player advantage with a suitably aggressive betting strategy, but it is not worth the bother any more.

I simulated the game with QFit software, and it had approximately 1% advantage on all money wagered with my betting strategy, and I could wager around £3000 - £5000 an hour.

I wagered 3x£1 when the game was -EV, so I lost almost nothing in these situations (which was most of the time), 3x£25 when the deck was 0.3% advantage, and went to the maximum of 3x£100 when the deck was 1% advantage or greater. Variance was therefore very high, so a good bankroll was essential.

I created a spreadsheet to help me count the cards (I used Wong's Halves count): why bother remembering the count when you can use aids.

My results have been poor; I had been having a terrible run this month. I could easily have played for a year and be down. But there was no doubt the game was player advantage. It would appear a lot of people were exploiting the game, which is why they have changed it.
