When I said tournament play, I was referring to St. Ignace.....not tournament play in general. There has been some discussion on DD cards during their tourney. It sounds to me like the rules have changed from tourney to tourney over the years.
2 Formats--2 Sets of rules I presume Schultzy means double down cards in his last post rather than double deck which DD sometimes stands for. Actually, everyone is probably right here. They do have 1 rules sheet for their pitch tournaments and 1 other rules sheet for their 4 deck shoe tournaments. Don't have access to either sheet right now but if memory serves me correctly the rules are very similar BUT there are slight differences thus toolman1's post about reading rules each time!
The rules in a St. Ignace tournament can change from minute to minute, not just over the years. Read what rules? I asked for a set of 'em upon checking in last time, and was told to just go ask one of the floormen if I had any questions.
Double Down Card At St. Ignace the double down card is dealt face down in their 4D tournaments, except for stiff hands. On stiffs a double down card is dealt face up. I assume their DD tournaments have the same rule. But they've changed their rules before. The last time I played there I peppered the tournament directors with questions about the rules before play began. Good luck to all of you playing there in April. I hope to be there in June but I have to sell my house in Wisconsin before traveling for any more tournaments. Anyone wanna buy a house???
I might have the answer. I need some new windows for my home. Since your house is relatively new, would you consider selling it piecemeal. Who knows, the parts may be worth more than the whole. I'll pay the going rate for good used windows - if they fit.
Target the Eskimos Monkeysystem, The winter that we've had in WI doesn't enhance the value of any houses here. A suggestion----Tell your realtor to direct all advertising towards the eskimo market!!! Billy C
Exposure! How about BJT members playing at St. Ignace adding ONLY that fact to their nametag. Anyone else like that idea? I think it would be fun trying to figure out the face that goes with each "handle". By doing it this way, people like myself that need to stay low profile because of "witness protection" program" (old mob ties) can remain incognito if we choose to. Billy C
It's been a rough winter in Wisconsin and Billy C. is VERY determined to make the 480 mile trek to St. Ignace. He will be the one with the snowmobile in the parking lot!
Could Happen Most miles I've ridden a sled in one day is 345 so I'm hoping I can drive my truck up. For anyone believing the mob ties thing in my last post, please note that I will also be taking offers on the Mackinac bridge in the parking lot!!! Billy C
Hmmm...... So my nametag would read "Dan Mayo BJT"? Hey, maybe I can make up a handle on my St. Ignace nametag so you might mistake me for someone that does not know how to play! Let's see, how about "BJ Ploppy, the Casino location was my idea" Dan
Same problem Yeah, I hear you Dan Mayo. I think you know that I have the same problem and so does at least 1 other entrant. You, of course can never hide as long as you wear the JD green cap. Billy C
I got quite a chuckle out of this BJT-on-the-name-tag idea. Anyone there who watched the now-defunct UBT on TV will recognize me, and probably Deb as well (because of the "crowd shots" on the show). By the way, Billy, my apologies. I thought your post said "witless protection."
Bad Idea? I thought the nametag thing was a good idea but maybe I was wrong. I realize that some people like to remain anonymous and certainly respect their wishes if thats the case. Is it a good idea or not? Billy C
No Problem Billy C, I'd have no problem with it. I wonder if Ken had any neat little stickers that we could use and promote his website too? Of course I might be wearing one of his BJT shirts one of the days already (like at the final table! ). Dan
