    b. stone;

    true, to the fact that i do have some assets (not much, though) to back myself up in the pursuit of being a full time bj tourney player. no, i do not have a pension check coming in monthy (was mainly self employed), or do i have some financial insititution sending myself monies (screwed that up also).

    so, would i suggest that a 20 yr. old set out on the high plains to become a bjt player. i would say, no. yet, living ones' dream of being a fulltime bjt tourney player, (or, nitemare, as it seems most of the time), just might be better than saying, may i super size that order sir.

    there are always choices of doors to open in the pathway of life. if we choose one and it does not work, then we open another door and proceed to that finding. i really believe that society today bases our value on this planet on how much monies we have, or making in our life. not, on our whole personal being. is money the key to happiniess? i guess it is for most. and, that is great for them. more power and more monies to these people, i do wish. yet, i never have viewed a bank vault behind a hearse, heading to a grave site.

    day job

    true barney, i am retired and have a small pension. sold my house and kids are grown. most of what i own is in storage.
    would i recommend it at age 21--why not? plenty of time to change your mind. if you have the time, bankroll, and desire, and few responsibilities, give it a shot only live once, so live like you want to.

    tourneys ?

    I get free room invites a lot (mid week of course - but the flight from tucson is only $100 RT) last time when I was making res I was told to go to the "invited guest" desk to check in - but I asked about the bjt and they told me - not cash games - only for invited guests.
    I have not ever been a player. $5 tables etc. I don't know why they even send me free rooms :) but if I ask will they "invite me" ?
    This is NY NY.
    I do have a contact at other places but I am not ready to go to a $500 tournament.

    Is there a way to get started? I would rather play tournaments because table bj is very boring to me.

    Any advice would be great.

    there are occasional games in tucson - check the events list on this site, also - check with your local casinos - also - there are regular tourneys at Casino Arizona in Scottsdale - and sometimes at the other Phoenix area casinos - Casino Arizona tourneys are evenings - so maybe you could make some of them - buy-in and rebuy are $100 at Casino Arizona - its a nice tourney - with usually single advance from the first table - then multiple advance from the semi-final - first place pays $3,000 -
