Feel the "pain" we all had to endure 920 times and counting, at least it's new to you,and you missed the first 919

Yes Sabrejack the change will be made but they had to order new elimination buttons for hand 11 and 16 before the change could be implemented. You are correct its a good change because otherwise the player in seat 5 if not eliminated is also betting first on hand 10 no matter who is eliminated
    on the first elimination hand

    Hmmmm

Well it's Saturday and no word on the lastest edition of the Venetian SNG

I guess as the word gets out and more and more people play the "pros" may not be doing as well?

Or maybe out Venetian correspondent did so well he took the UBT jet to NY to pick up his little buddy :joker:

    Last Nights Update

OK OK I'm late with my Friday night update, sorry. But I'm pleased to know that some members actually look forward to it.

There were the usual suspects playing last night at the Venetian during their weekly UBT Turbo sit & go's and there was also a few new faces in the crowd,Palms UBT Champion Robert Blechman made an appearance as he was in town for the canceled IP tournament,Dr Bass was seen in the area but I don't recall seeing him actually play,Previn M stopped by also.Max Rubin who has been there every week and his game is a formidable one with all this practice, he should be avoided if given the chance.Anthony Curtis was on a tear last night and I locked horns with him twice coming out on the short end of the stick both times but one was for a 2nd place cash in a $250 event that paid $450 for 2nd.

Lupe B and Mike S two Las Vegas locals who play a ton of tournaments around the country and here in Las Vegas just heard about this the other day and played multiple events last night. The PA system was not being used as the Venetian's MC was on vacation. That seem to really help last week in attracting new players over to the pit, hopefully he will be back next week.

There seemed to be a lot of new faces playing and I'm not sure where they came from Venetian players or players who play on Bet 21 or Play UBT.com

I personally played in 5 tournaments won a $100 event and finished 2nd in a $250 to show a small profit last night.

The elimination hands remained at 5-10-15 as the new buttons were not available last night.I'm told next week they will be there. So the elimination hands will then become 5-11-16.This change will prevent the player in seat 5 having to bet first on both hands 5 and 10.

Next week will be more of the same and Friday night April 20th I expect a nice crowd there as players will be in for the Palms Main Event.

So if any of our members are in Las Vegas on Friday evening stop by and say hello even if you don't play because it is becoming a social event also. Remember it runs from 8 PM to 2 AM.

    See You There

    to get the record straight

I actually did play one sit and go, (while Joe was finishing up another across the pit) Anthony and Max were at my table. Came in 3rd after going all in and busting out before the 3rd knockout hand. Had a great time and saw a lot of friends and outstanding players.

Dr Bass sorry I didn't see you play and I didn't want to report that you did if you didn't. I try to only post true and accurate facts here.I'm thrilled you had a good time and yes it was good seeing you there along with many other friends .Like I have said this is quickly becoming a social event along with some fine tournaments play and some outstanding tournament players appearing on a weekly schedule.

I'm hoping to get up the nerve to play this Friday; I have convinced my husband that we have to at least watch a tournament, if not play in one. We both play on UBT and love the idea of playing it live.

I'm a little intimidated after reading the familiar names of people I have seen on tv who are playing; to me these names are almost like a cast list of a weekly tv show, not someone I might potentially sit at a table with! I cán't believe that in my first tournament EVER I may potentially play Adrianna Jade or Hollywood Dave or ..

Let me add some personal info to help you in your decision – just do it at a 100 SNG. The people that you read about at those tables are the tops but you know what – they’re very nice, funny and you’ll enjoy yourself. The hardest part about it will be the intimidation factor and I guarantee you it will throw your gone off.

But rest assured these pros all put their pants on the same way as you and I, well except for Hollywood who doesn’t wear pants (see his site for more on that).

I’d encourage you to play once with the “big dogs”. For a 100 SNG it’s a lot cheaper than a 2500 UBT event. Tell them you’re a newbie at LIVE tourneys and I’m sure you’ll have a good time. Just watch out for HD’s advice :)

You will have a blast. You won't believe the adrenaline rush. The most difficult adjustment will be the lack of an accurate chip count. Go for it!!!

Thanks for the encouragement; I'm very excited to try my luck. I have only ever played tournaments at UBT so I thought that maybe I had picked up some bad habits re: aggressive play and higher bets. That might just work out for me after all! I will absolutely be watching before I play. I'll be the person not blinking so I don't miss a thing. ;)

One question; how many chips do you start with and what are the min/max bets?

Coz please make it a point when you come over to play at the Friday night Venetian UBT sit & go's to say hello.I will be easy to find,I will have my purple "Be Nice To Barney" shirt on. LOL

Fgk is correct we all do put our pants on the same way,so there is no reason to fear playing against us.

    Just play your style

You start with 25,000 and the bet range is 500-25,000

Coz one change from your on-line play, you can bet zero or dd for zero when you are in a secret bet mode. That is the only diference between live play and on-line play.

The format is different for the Venetian Sit & Go events then the UBT online

Except the Venetian is a new Turbo style and the elmination hands are at 5, 11, and 16, and only 21 hands are played compared to the online events which have elmination hands at 8, 16, and 25, and play up to 30 hands.

    Coz....

If you have only ever played UBT free rolls then I might suggest you try Bet 21 site a bit....

You can play some good games in the sit and go section for only a dollar or maybe 5 dollars game....this is closer to realistic betting stratgeies then the typical agressive all in style sometime found in the free rolls.

I have been finding that the games at UBT have been getting much better except for the TEC point games which are not a good example of good play.

So give Bet 21 a try....the live games are using the same chip amounts 500 to 25,000....so keep that in mind to calm yourself when playing with real chips...

Chip counting is learned skill but you can get by guestimating stacks and maybe only concentrating on the low stack near elimination hands...also if you just find yourself running out of time at a key time (elimination hand) then use your secret bet....it gives you more time to evaluate and count chip stacks...

I believe they also count down evereyones chips (???) at certain points in the game...dont be afraid to ask the amounts if you cant hear what was said...

If you correlate your bets and get some good cards then you wont be too far out and you have a good chance...

You have some advantage by playing many games online...and while the chip amounts arent given on a screen in front of you ...you will certainly have a feel if you get behind or if you are ahead....

Nothing like the thrill of live action....but dont be intimidated....the chips are your mouse now....put them out just as you would move your mouse up or down the betting scale...

Watch a few games then jump in....your odds of winning are better at this game then any other game in the house....

Most tournament players are warm wonderful people...dont be afraid to announce your newbie status ....Im sure you will get some advice...

These are not a bunch of meanies like the POKER players are...;-)

Have fun....hopefully we can hear your success story here later ...

    Good Luck!!!

Rick if you were to read my post from Saturday and most of the early post in this 4 week thread I already detailed what the elimination hands were. Coz read that and I was just letting him know about being able to bet zero or DD for zero on a secret bet.But thanks for watching my back....

    counting chips

Do the live UBT events (sit-n-go and etc) have the same max ten-chip-per-stack rule as the TV final tables do?

The 10 chip per stack rule is enforced at all UBT tournaments. It's a good rule for the new players who otherwise might be somewhat hesitant to play if their chip counting ability is not up to par. After all chip counting is part of the skill factor that is so important in becoming a top player.Any player who still believes tournaments are all luck are only fooling themselves.

Actually until the new buttons are used at the Venetian, Rick was in error when he said the elimination hands were 5-11-16.They still are 5-10-15 until the new buttons are implemented. So Coz just make sure before you play you check what the elimination hands are.
