Why is UBT paying the UB expences?

As Joe says, these fees are quite competitive when compared to the World Series of Poker. If you've seen the spectacle that is the Rio right now, with 206 poker tables going and the sound of thousands of players shuffling their chip stacks, I think you'll understand. Could blackjack reach that level? Maybe, maybe not, but an 8% fee on an entry fee incentivizes the process enough to further that cause.

So, that leaves the complaint about Team UBT. Who's to say that UBT isn't putting the same fees in the pot for each of their players?
I don't have any information on that, but it seems quite possible.

I just do not see a problem here. Instead, I see the huge opportunity we've all been waiting for. I've got my $2700 ready.

Not trying to rock the boat, but...

Kennye as I have posted many times and at several sites (Here, LVA, and your site) that I am all for the UBT and any other show, tour, or tournament that promotes blackjack tournaments. :)

Everybody on this site is and has been waiting for UBT to start up. We are just wanting to know some information about whats going on.

You say your getting ready for the Tour, well several of us would like to start getting ready too, but we don't have the information yet to get ready.

I have been working on possible sponsorship (for myself) for all the UBT events, but I have nothing to tell the sponsors yet and I am sure this is true for other players as well.

I am more than willing to support the UBT, but I need the information to do so. I have ask repetedly about the hotel rooms, the dates for UBT only (I am not worried about the poker), if the UBT in Aruba will be filmed, but gotten no reply back. :(

When Russ called me last week he answered several question for me and I gladly posted them on this site for all to see. I also told him about a casino interested in hosting UBT events and about another new one that might be interested as well. Plus I have talked to several others about hosting not only my events once a year, but some UBT and WSOB events as well. ;)

If I offended anyone with my comments about TEAM UBT getting paid I am sorry, but that is just how I feel.

I have to ditto this comment also. I have received an invite to a tournament during the same time. I want to play in the qualifiying event but when will they be?????? Unlike other people some of us have to travel, cancel our business arrangements, etc. to make these qualifing events.

[qote=TXtourplayer]When Russ called me last week he answered several question for me and I gladly posted them on this site for all to see.

[/quote] saw this but what is the link for othters TX?

I don't mean to step on people's toes but I did a tenative booking for the Aruba event and it will cost me over 7.5K - airfare, hotel, entry fee, etc. Not to mention time off from seeing clients etc. See I'm NOT a pro player.

Then I hear there is a pro UBT "TEAM" and talk about taking the wind out of my sails!!!

I watched the WPT recently where there was a player, DAVID from Canada, who won a $25 satellite to get the main event at the Bellagio. He played well enough to qualify for the final table and eventually made it to 2nd place against a "PRO".

That is the dream of BJ players to have the OPPORTUNITY to play against the big boys. So should I plunk down my $5K now for Aruba for what????

    UBT fees or Casino fees?

At the start of this post I was concerned with UB or UBT charging a $200 fee besides the $2,500 entry. I never had a problem paying a fee to cover the casinos expense, but I thought this was a fee going to the UB or UBT which I couldn't understand.

I was told yesterday that the $200 fee is not for UB/UBT, but is a fee being charged by the casino. This was from one of the casinos listed as a UBT site.

Once again I have no problem with covering the expense for the casinos, but I think pass a certain point the percentage should be cut down so they just cover expense and not make a profit from the players fees.

8% for $2500 is the same entry fee that we pay to the WSOP and the WPT in their events, it drops to 6% for $5000 and up buy-ins. Since it also includes dealers tips, not a bad deal for players who place in the money. And remember the promoter is in business to make money just like you are in your promotions. I think everyone's biggest complaint should be TV money, some it should go into the players pool like the PGA and other events do, after all without the players there would be no event.

    Soap Box

If you want to stand on your soap box and bitch about casinos or tournament companies collecting more than their share .I have a great place for you to start and it will take up all of the free time that you seem to have.

Harrah's is charging 6% of the 10,000 entry fee for the main event which works out to 600 dollars per player. They are expecting close to 8,000 players for this one event.

So the math works out that Harrah's will be making 4.8 Million just on this event. Do you really think it cost them 4.8 million to run this event.

Keep in mind that there are about 45 other events being held with a bigger % take out.

It actually works out that after Harrah's takes there cut for every tournament it is equivalent to finishing in 2nd place in every event held.

So if you believe in your cause that much here is a great place for you to start.

Just let the UBT get this off and running its good for EVERYONE.Even the "BOAT ROCKERS"

    Boom Time Blackjack?

I hate to see my American and Canadian buddies falling out over the UBT (It’s breaking my heart. Honest). :)

If you can’t agree and are unable to work something out, just send it over to Europe for the guys over here that can’t get a live tournament game and I am sure the series will be more than appreciated.

Seriously and not taking any sides on this argument. I hope you all put your differences behind you, enter the tournament and then give us some constructive feedback about how it went.

    My Three Cents, continued.

UBT needs to deliver on it's many promises and must provide clarity/transparence as to it's tournament and management structure. For me, the ability to qualify online at a reasonable cost is a must. I have never played in a tournament with an up-front expense of $5k to $6k.
There is too must hype going on right now and not enough firm details. We seem to be making up details as we go.
It is clear from what I see now that these tournaments are add-ons to the poker tournaments and are meant to generate TV exposure/income for the UBT investors from the well-heeled($) poker players and that is fine. I also believe that once the WSOP concludes, we may hopefully get more solid facts.
I see more risk than reward at this point. Patience is my path before I jump in.:joker: :joker: :joker:

    Is there a difference ?

    What is the difference here

UBT has an 8% fee attached to its tournament to cover expenses
    2500+200 = 8 %

Rick has an 8.8% fee attached to his tournaments

Three 300 per tournament 80 per player to cover expenses

    900+ 80 if you play all 3 = 8.8%

    600+80 if you play in 2 = 13.3%

    300+80 if you play in 1 = 26.6%

So if 8% is to much what is right about 8.8% or higher
