    Forgot one call

Sorry, but I have to tell those of you that don't see the show about one call the announcers made on the "Split" last night. The two players in the playoffs were Dantreal BR1 and Justin BR2. On about hand 7 (of 10) Dantreal has a $300 lead and betting first.

Dantreal bets $100 and Justin bets $50, Dantreal get a hard 13 vs. dealers 5 and DD's for less. The announcers are going crazy saying what a bad play it is as the dealer hits him with a 9 to bust him. Now Justin DD's his 8 and catches a picture for 18, then the dealer flips a 2 for 7, hits a 3 for 10, then a 4 for 14, and finally a 7 for 21.

The announcers then call the dealers hand a 5 card Charlie and explains that is why Dantreal DD his hand, he was playing for the dealer to draw out on them? Yes they REALLY said that on national TV.

WHAT THE H*LL? Dantreal lost $150, Justin only lost $100. Like I have mentioned before the announcers sound like they never played blackjack, no less a blackjack tournament.

    TV Show...ugh.

Couldn't agree with you more, TXtourplayer. I just recently got plugged into the live BJ tourney scene after recently moving to Texas. I participated in the May Winstar tourney and it was my first ever live event. Even though I did not advance past the first round, I had a blast and learned alot. I was really excited to see how this event was going to translate to TV.

Sadly, the TV portion has positively underwhelmed me as well. I watched the first show off a recording from my DVR, and I could not believe it took them 18 minutes into the program to show an actual hand of play. The first 17 minutes were basically an info-mercial for the casino and the hotel where the finalist went to. I know the show is, in fact, an informercial, but it could at least be entertaining.

There was just no drama, no interest. And when they were focused on actual tourney play, I couldn't even see the actual cards or follow the action very well. Not only that, but the show couldn't have been more confusing in trying to describe how players advance and how the reality portion ties in.

Any for the love of Pete...gets some announcers that actually know something about tournament play!

At any rate, best of luck to all of those in this forum that have advanced to the next round.

    April Winstar show

Well yet additional problems for the show, starting times are not starting when advertised. I learned to set the DVR for the scheduled time and the next hours time slot as well just so I can record the entire show.

Now for the show, what can I say, it isn't the best play I've ever seen for tournament play, but what the heck. At least we have blackjack on TV and a hell of an overlay event involved with it.

I was just catching up on my tivo backlog of this show. I noticed that they now have a guess the winner of each show contest. It should be pretty easy for one of us to win the $1,000 prize, since, we all know the winners.

Do we get bonus points for being at one of those long final table tapings?

I expect that the winner of the "Text us your guess for the winner" contest isn't actually dependent on getting the right answer, but is instead chosen from all participants. If anyone knows differently, let us know.
