Hotel deal corrected...

Okay, I finally got the hotel situation for Gainsville, TX and the Winstar tournaments corrected. These rates will be good for the May. June, and July events.

Players may get either of the following at $89.00 per night + tax. They do have a strict cancellation policy of 72 hours before.

King (normally $109.00 per night).

Two Queens (normally $99.00 per night).

I believe the LaQuinta Inn is the nicest hotel in the area (less then 10 minutes from casino) and offers:

Free internet
Free Breakfast
Heat indoor/outdoor pool
Hot tub
Microwave and refridgerator in the rooms.

I have made reservation (senior) at Microtel that is right next door to the casino, within walking distance & it also has a shuttle every 30 minutes. Rates are:
Thursday $66.60
Friday & Sat $96.00

Spring the Microtel is the closet motel/hotel, but it is a pretty good walk.

The Split website on Winstar has the pictures posted from the April qualifier now. Several players from the list or other venues can be seen there.

 

Who is guaranteeing the prize fund?

These are pretty large guarantees. Are the funds in the bank?

So far no problems...

All the prizes are guaranteed for the Winstar events. I haven't heard of any player not getting paid.

The staff at Winstar have been very nice, even with the new rules about buying chips.

Only issues about the tournaments so far are:

1. No maximum bet
2. Two to one Blackjacks
3. No Surender (the first three are the same for everybody, so fair for all)
4. To much player coaching, bring it to the pit bosses attention and it will be corrected

Just like any other tournament, you have to have your head in the game to avoid any dealers errors. I've caught them twice moving the puck to the wrong place.

 

Limited rooms...

I only reserved 20 rooms at the LaQuinta Inn for the Winstar events. Five rooms were booked today, so acted fast.

Extra rooms at LaQuinta Inn

I just checked and the LaQuinta Inn allowed extra rooms rented at the $89 rate using the code: TBJPA for the May 8th and 9th.

I was told we have 25 rooms rented out on the 8th so far. We can have a get together at Applebees next door, (they have a full bar...lol). Lets try and get a group together around 8:00 p.m. on Thursday 8th. All wishing to attend just reply below. I'll make reservations for 10 and we can add to it from there.

Weaker beer in Oklahoma

Maxwell, the casino doesn't offer mix drinks, they do have beer, but it is weaker in Oklahoma (by law).

Wish you could make the dinner on Thursday night.

I just learned another member here "Real Deal" made the Winstar finals in August. He made the April final table.

Thats two BJT.com members so far; Landlord and Real Deal. Hopefully more after next Fridays 3rd qualifying event.

How about brunch on Friday?

Since I won't be in till Friday morning is anyone interested in meeting up at Cracker Barrel for breakfast/lunch before heading to the casino? My flight arrives at DFW at 8:50, so maybe 10:00 would work. That is still two hours before registration begins.

Cracker Barrel is just up the road about a mile or so from the La Quinta towards the casino and is right next to the Hampton Inn.
